Agree. Gotta give credit where due..Fremd was way better than I anticipated, and Barrington seems to be in an offensive funk.

I know. It's weird because they do have some talented kids on that side of the ball, but as a unit it's just not working. Hoping Lund can find some things that work soon. They do play lots of juniors and some sophs on the defense, so hopefully they're learning the hard way right now and will be better the next couple of years.
Just unfathomable collapse in second half.. It was cold in the stands, but it wasn't noticeable until it started slipping away. Apparently Hoffman Estates has perfected the screen pass, and no mere mortal team can stop it...at least that's what it seemed like because we couldn't stop it. At a loss for words on the collapse defensively this season. I miss Rick Splitt, he was DC forever and then added Head Coach duties, and they always had a good defense and made solid adjustments throughout the game. You see none of that this year...
I don't know.. I was thinking after the 10th, 20th or however many screen passes they threw out to Whitehead on the left that maybe they would make some adjustments. Have a linebacker sneak out and jump the route. Those passes took a long time to get there, how we could never step in front of one is beyond me.
In defense of my 2006 team, we only had 8 seniors on the team. Only 5 played I think!
Well, they have the same thing this year, especially on defense. I think Hunt at cornerback, Perryman at one of the safeties, and Ciccu at OLB are the only seniors who start. There's a couple of twins, last name Pecson, who are sophomores and one starts at MLB (#50 who took two short kicks and did a rugby scrum moving them 30 yards downfield twice and had the INT) and the other at the other safety. The starting RB Todd is a sophomore, they moved Ayala down to get time in with the JV the last two games but he's the backup QB (and who looks like he'll be a star), and most of the OL and DL are juniors.
Given that I really hope this is a "baptism by fire" and they will be better for it the next couple of years, because I think the offense is going to be really good and if the defense can get get back to respectable they could easily bounce back to a 7-2 or 8-1 kind of team the next two years. This year though, I think we're gonna see what it felt like to be Fremd last year.
I mean Palatine should have beaten them last night so I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Would you be surprised if Conant or Fremd beat them? Conant seems really solid. Conant @ Fremd is a huge game next week.
Stortz is a defensive minded guy at Conant, and Fremd has Pearlman as DC, and they both seem to be winning with defense...so right now I'd think the winner of these two takes the West.
I understand what you all are saying, and it really just makes me think it's just not the MSL West of the last 6 or 7 seasons. Seems not as solid as usual. I say that due to seeing Fremd play Glenbrook South a few weeks back, and that physicality just wasn't there. Maybe it was just an off game, but overall I didn't feel very impressed. Maybe they have figured it all out since then though
