MSNBC is throwing in the towel - can't compete

Given the future unbundling of cable tv, I think it is smart of MSNBC to jetison their liberal slant over the coming years. Too much competition from NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, CNN and the like.

It is still strange to me that Fox stands alone. Fox went after a very niche market (lol), once that comprises about 70% of the country (non liberal). Why try to fight over the remaining 30% with a bunch of other outlets?

if extremism needed taught......MSNBC is the classroom

with an abundance of professors on staff, however Maddow has credibility in at least the area of criticizing presidential consolidation of war creating powers. She is also a very well prepared partisan, of which I can appreciate. If you are going to be a partisan, be a good one, and she is.

She was a Rhodes scholar. I've seen her show a few times and she can present a case. She's incredibly smart. But I really don't like her style.

right. I told you this in the distant past and you were surprised to find this out.

hopefully, she matures in her role to bash the other side.

I/ve seen her show enough to have an opinion. I don[t mind her style as much as I dislike the format of the show. She typically spends the first segment or two brow-beating a point from her perspective. I'm more of a discussion debate kind of guy with my political TV viewing.

She's very smart but I agree with you that more debate would be much more interesting. She gets roughly 1/3 the viewers of the Kelly File. She is clearly the ratings star at MSNBC but if unbundling occurs, as it more surely will, all cable outlets will have to look long and hard at their programming.

I liked her better on the Wonder Years.

Here's how Time magazine described Maddcow.....

"button-cute leftie" The Baltimore Sun has accused Maddow of acting like 'a lockstep party member. A Newsweek profile noted, "she sounds like another smug cable partisan." The editors of The New Republic named her among the "most over-rated thinkers" of 2011

She is very easy to dislike, but

She is a credit to the Cris Mattheews, Ed Show and the black fellow. She clearly has a bias, but those other characters are unbelievable, and oh so proud of the work they do.

Would hate to lose the "Morning Joe". I watch it a fair amount when Joe is on.
