Per this article, Bama is 1st at 58.8mil, and State is 2nd at 47.9mil, while UM comes in with 33.7mil at 6th place.

they're vastly important to research at MSU, and perhaps every job I had in the state of Mississippi over about a decade was the result of pork.<div>
</div><div>However, it's a shame that more research groups in the state aren't leveraging these to become competitive enough to diversify their funding. Too many of them, in .my experience, count on these as their primary source of funding, like some sort of research welfare.</div><div>
