Since we institued the 4 guard line-up we are 10-6.

In the 10 wins we averaged 45.54% from the 3 point line and the 6 losses we averaged 25.28%.
This team does live and die by the 3 pointer...

Stans has made this choice and is playing out the season this way, hoping to rely on the hot shooter any given night.
It has worked more than it hasn't, but that is not the way to win consistently in CBB, teams have adjusted and we are having problems getting the 3 ball to fall.
I still think we need to try to start 3 guards with Osby and SWAT, bring BJ, Elgin, and Kodi off the bench to back up the bigs.
This would help our post defense and our rebounding differential, along with developing Osby, Elgin and Kodi for next season.

Let's hope we shoot lights out from 3 land tonight...

Let's go Bulldogs...

The problem with your lineup is that Osby isn't ready to be a starter. He looks lost most of the time on the floor. So then if you say put Kodi in then you are looking at a guy that can score some but is a bigtime defensive liability. I think he is putting the lineup on the floor that has the better chance of winning. It's not perfect but its the best option.

He's just a very young freshman. Some freshman grow up fast, for example Dee Bost, other it takes a little while to adjust to the speed of college. I think the year Dee spent in prep school really helped him out a lot.</p>

I agree with having three gaurds and subing in wtih the bigs. Especially with Ravern who is coming off 3 bad games and Benock passing up every shot he looks at. And Randy who just cant make the shots against the bigs, but if we come out hot tonight it could be a different story.

You are with the 4-guard line up (aka "Live and die by the 3") as long as it works, i.e., the shots are falling. But, you are against it if we are not hitting the shots.

Some of you are impossible to satisfy. If we were starting Bailey, B. Johnson, or Osby we would probably have a worse record than we do now and most of you SOB's would be mad about that. Stansbury has typically preferred the lineup you suggest, but he is putting the best 5 on the floor.

We bashed Croom for years because he would not adapt his scheme to fit the players we had, yet when Stansbury does that very thing its not the right decision. Such is life at SPS.

It is easier to disguise lack of offensive strategy with four little guys running around the perimeter hitting threes or forcing it down low to the single big guy {Jackson, Austin, Roberts, Rhodes, Varnado, insert big name here}.

With two big guys in the game opposing teams collapse on whichever one gets the ball and that strategy goes to poop because our movement away from the ball and passing out of the double/triple teams have always been bad.

What is different this year that I would like to see is go to the two bigs (I don't care who....I like Kodi best because of his shooting, but they are all relatively interchangable) and move Turner to the 2 and see what that tweak gives us. Randy could come off the bench to back up Turner or spell Ravern when she goes cold shooting or out as a defensive liability. I think getting really wide open threes in this situation would be a different look than what we have seen from opposing teams as they rough up Ravern, and extend their D to contest our threes.

Hoping for a win this evening. Wouldn't it be cool Sydney to come in and be "The Guy"? Rick is due for one to go his way.

that we live and die by the 3? I wasn't able to ascertain that the first 46 billion times you posted it. Please try to be more clear.

He is just so proud that this is the first original thought he has ever come up with so he won't shut up about it. Not to mention he is having a hard time coming up with any other original thoughts of his to discuss

Stansbury can't win with you. If we started Osby, Bailey, or Augustus all year then we are probably looking at a 13-12 record and praying for an NIT berth. Fact is we would not have won some of the games we did if not for the three pointer. No way we would have won at UK without the 16 threes we hit or come back against Arkansas without the 14 threes we hit.

I have not been happy with the starting five and all the 3 point shooting this year.
It's not like I just came up with these ideas last week.

6/18/08 Osby needs to start

Please show where the production would come from. Osby has no business being a starter. None. That leaves Johnson, Augustus, and Bailey. I guess Augustus would be next in line but he would negate any points he scores on the defensive end. Don't even try and tell me that you would put Bailey or Johnson in the starting 5.

Brian Johnson fouls about once every five-six minutes. Bailey once every sevenish. Neither would be able to stay on the court long enough to have any impact.
