After hearing SS talk of 75,000 someday coming to watch MSU football, I realize that it is possible. Why? Look at the surge in season tickets sales, BC memberships, and spring football game attendance after the Ninja simply marketed us competently. We have no real results yet in football, yet we are poised to set another season ticket sales record this year. <div>Off of a 5-7 season and 9/10 years of losing records, we are about to sell more football tickets than in any prior season. What that says is that we have undermarketed for decades. Our fanbase is a sleeping giant. And simply putting a consistent winner on the field would cause an unprecedented transformation. </div><div>I am a MSU homer, no doubt, but I believe we are in the best position of any Mississippi school to take the lionshare. I think Ole Miss has developed their image better and maximized return on their athletic efforts. If they'd had the results we've had for the past decade, they wouldn't have 20K fans in Vaught-Hemingway on weekends. If we continue Byrne-style marketing and if Mullen gives us winning seasons, I have little doubt we'll do better than either school has ever dared. 75K is ambitious but not impossible. I think rank and file Mississippians are more likely to identify with our image than that of Ole Miss. I think they are waiting on State to give them something to get behind. </div>
