I had posted the question earlier this week about what our attrition looked like compared to Auburn's. Here's my quick and dirty count:

I am listing signess that are no longer listed on the roster who didn't graduate or leave early for the NFL. I think this is pretty close but if I left off some transfers or have someone in here mistakenly let me know and I'll recalculate.

Overall I'd say our attrition rates are pretty good. It's obviously too early to tell on the 2012 class since there's 4 more years to go for a lot of them but still our attrition % overall is about 19%, and 23% not counting the 2012 class.

Unless my math sucks. Thoughts?

2009 signees (27 signed, 5 gone - 18.5% attrition):
Montrell Conner Monroe, LA
Johnathan McKenzie Starkville, MS
William Shumpert Fulton, MS
Dennis Thames Louisville, MS
Sam Watts Conyers, GA

Never enrolled:
Billy Hamilton Taylorsville, MS (signed Pro Baseball contract)
Mardrecas Hood Reform, AL (Sign and Place)

2010 Signees (26 signed, 4 gone - 15% attrition):
Michael Carr West Point, MS
Dylan Favre Bay St. Louis, MS
Jeffrey Howie Itawamba CC
Jeremy Lee Utica, MS

Never enrolled:
Paul Crawford Lewisville, TX (Sign and place)

2011 Signees (22 signed, 3 gone - 14% attrition):
Devin Fosselman Woodville, MS
James Maiden Woodville, MS
*Nick Redmond Gulfport, MS

Never enrolled:
Justin Cox West Point, MS (Sign and place)
Shaquille Perry Walnut, MS (Sign and place)

2012 Signees (27 signed, 2 gone - 8% attrition):
Adarrius Perkins Hattiesburg, MS
Nick Schuessler Loganville, GA

I would not count Hood, Crawford, Lee, Cox or Perry because they were all sign and place (I believe). I might not count Hamilton either. I may be thinking of attrition the wrong way, but I think it of in terms of kid X signed, enrolled and then left for whatever reason. I dont consider attrition being kids we placed in JUCO because we knew that is where they were going from day 1.

I wouldn't count Billy Hamilton as attrition. He signed pro baseball and as I'm sure you've seen. He made the right decision. I agree with Chew. When I think of attrition, I think of guys that signed, enrolled, then split for one reason or another.

I agree. I didnt' check anything other than who signed and who isn't on the roster today. I'll make a note.
