The question I have is about catcher, is Ammo really that much better defensively than Slaughter? That through he made to first might have cost us the game.

not an expert, but I think

ammo got in because slaughter got hurt and once in, he did a pretty good job. But, the fact that he is a switch hitter gives him points in cohen's book. He does make me nervous throwing the ball. He did make a good throw to cut down a guy trying to steal.

I am not sure whether Slaughter is 100% healthy. Someone on here may know that. However, Ammo has developed a pretty damn good rapport with the pitching staff during Slaughter's absence and I do not think you make the change back. Ammo calls a good game. The throwing errors was on him, but the passed ball was very difficult to block. It looked like it kicked up off the front of the plate.

Just my opinion.

I'm not advocating a change back, I'm just wondering if he is that much better defensively. I've read on hear that he is the better defensive catcher. Yes, I realize that he is a switch hitter and that is a big positive in his favor. He did make good contact last night but his throw to first was big and terrible!

I was suggesting you meant a change back now. My point was that he, over the course of the season, developed a rapport with the pitching staff. Even if Slaughter was 100% two months ago, you still do not make the change.

It was a near perfect bunt. I thought there was no chance of throwing the guy out and wished he'd have just let it go foul (may have stayed fair, but I personally thought it was going foul).

But it was an extremely tough play regardless. I won't fault the guy for being agressive & trying to make the play. You got a vacuum at first that catches almost anything you throw his way... that was just a rushed throw that got away.

I agree with that. I remember the spin on that ball, it sure looked as if that might have rolled file. None the less, we'll never know.

My guess is that Slauter is still not healthy. Because when healthy, he's a better defensive catcher than Ammo and equal offensively. Ammo apparently calls a better game though.

He's healthy enough to throw Ross Mitchell out of the dugout, just saying........
