UGAand UF play tonight, so ifUGA were to win today that wouldknock us backto 8th place, 1/2 game behind UGA with them still having a game on Sunday. We need SC to finish the sweep tomorrow against Auburn badly. That would put them a full game behind us. Also need UF to sweep UGA. Would put them a full game behind us as well.

Considering we were in 11th place heading into this weekend and now we are guaranteed to at least be tied for 8th by the time it's done, I would say that was a damn successful weekend. </p>

Our schedule is about to get very, very tough though. Several 'just happy with 1' weekends coming up minus Bama.

USM in Pearl is a game we should win. We should go 3-3 vs. UM and at Bama. Then a sweep over Valley. We should go 6-3 in the next 9 games.

i was under the impression (per this chicken little board) that we were the worst team in the country. that would mean we are dead last in the conference.

what happened?

If we don't get hits, we will have a hard time beating them. I think we go no better than 2-1 against them, with 1-2 being a real possibility if our bats go cold or we have a bad day pitching.

But they didn't exactly pound our midweek pitching either. I expect another low-scoring series. I'd pick them to win 2 of 3, but this is a series we could win.

The way we've been pitching recently, I think we have to expect scores to be low. I know UT isn't the best team, but our staff in 34 innings this weekend gave up 4 total runs. You do stuff like that and you will stay in ever game you play. I think OM will push our pitchers more than UT, but I trust Stratton and Graveman to continue pitching well enough to keep us in both the Friday and Saturday games. If we can play as error free against OM as we did against UT, I think we win the series.

except Florida. I think we are competitive enough that we can beat OM, and we should take at least 2 of 3 from Bama, and considering how we played Arky and LSU, take 2-3 from UK. Here's how I expect the year to finish:<div>
</div><div>OM- 2-1</div><div>Alabama- 2-1</div><div>Florida- 1-2</div><div>Kentucky- 2-1</div><div>
</div><div>I am accounting for the off nights, but I think considering all the expectations, 7-5 seems entirely realistic... and that will put us at .500 for the year. We HAVE to avoid sweeps. I can see Florida sweeping us, and I would trade a UK loss for an Alabama win.</div>

The 3 worst teams we play this year are Vandy, UT, and Bama - We've already played two.
The 3 best teams we play this year are LSU, Florida, and UK - We've only played one.

Plus, OM which is way more talented than we are.

Our schedule is tougher here on out. No question about it.

We've played 1 of the top 3 with 2 series left. In fact, we've only played one series so far this year against a team with a winning SEC record outside of the series against us (that could change if USC beats UGA tomorrow). And we've lost a couple of series to teams with losing records.

With only 30 games, you're always going to have a logjam throughout the standings. Especially in the middle.

A lot of people say if you win 20 SEC games, you will probably win the conference in most years. So, that means basically going 20-10 if you are a really good team.

The difference is we play Ole Miss and UK at home and Florida on the road whereas we played LSU, and South Carolina on the road and then Arkansas at home.

So, for me the home field thing is the difference- especially when you look at our home record vs. our road record. We're 2-10 away from Dudy-Noble this year.

than it does to our home field advantage. Last year we were 7-8 at home and 7-8 on the road.

But most SEC teams this year have had trouble on the road- this year in particular. The only SEC series we've lost at home is Arkansas- and it took them extra innings to do that when we were shorthanded.

UT and Vandy.

OM and UK better teams to DNF. We'll see if our home field advantage holds true against better teams.
