Interesting how there's been so much talk of Ferlando Bohanna emerging as our leading linebacker, yet he's not even listed on this chart. Also interesting that Wade Bonner is listed over Nickoe Whitley at free safety.

He played really well down the stretch last year.

I saw at least3 mistakes at first glance.

I really hope we can land Brandon Maye though I'm not excited about his need to hold a press conference. Good to see McCardell up to 255.

Biggest weaknesses:
1. DE
2. LT
3. O-line depth
4. LB if we don't get Maye
5. Worried about punter

Except for a couple of bad angles on a few plays, Nickoe was a bad ***. He is going to play a lot. Its never a bad thing when you have someone like Nickoe as a back up.

from last year. All our pass rush came from blitzing, which we didn't get our timing down till mid season. McPhee was a good defender, but I think finding another run stopper won't be as hard as finding a great LB. White and Wright will be difficult to replace. I expect a 4-2-5.

From somebody in the football business- Collins will make us a top defense in the nation.

he redshirted in 09 so he probably wouldn't have played much anyway had he redshirted in 08.

Pernell McPhee was our only SEC caliber DE. According to Mullen this year, DE is a major concern. Unreal that we couldn't sign Mackey. McPhee didn't get a lot of sacks, but he got pressure and he had to be accounted for by the opposition. Huge dropoff from McPhee to who we have returning.

Keep in mind this depth chart is all about motivation. This is not what we will see come gameday.

and I think the pronunciation guide is stressing that it is in fact pronounced Heavens as opposed to Hay-vens.

to see Corvell Harrison-Gay used in a hybrid DE/LB role. I think Wilson has stated such as well.

A lot. It would help cover our deficiency at LB to play 3 good safeties who can all help in run support. Coach Wilson said "my best 9 will play."

Along those same lines, I hope to see some Cox at DE.

He's a RS Freshman that's never played a down of college football, and we have guyslike Wilson and Jonesthat have played before. Pre spring depth charts are mostly based on the past seasons performance. And since Wilson and Jamie Jones have played before, they will start out ahead of Bohanna.

We wouldn't throw Eulls in front of Ferguson because we think he's better. Ferguson has SEC experience, and even though most think Eulls may be better, you don't throw a RS Freshman in front of veterans on your pre-spring depth chart.

Huge dropoff from McPhee to who we have returning.
Except for a few notable plays, McPhee underperformed all last year.

It was pretty embarrassing to, week after week, hear the TV guys wonder when McPhee was finally going to get his first QB sack.

I have no idea how good or bad the DE's will be this fall.

But it's ridiculous to use an underachieving McPhee as a barometer of greatness.

McPhee had 10 tackles for a loss. Our 3 returning DE's (Ferguson, McCardell, & Stigors)had 11.5 combined. Surely you know that Sacks aren't the only measure of a player's impact. McPhee had 12 QB hurries. Our 3 returners had 7 combined. Opposing team Offensive coordinators had to account for McPhee. He is at the NFL combine for a reason. He made the senior bowl for a reason. Do the 3 returners have that kind of potential? I don't think so.

You don't just replace 4 NFL caliber players, especially one at left tackle. Ask Ole Miss.

Hopefully Chris Relf can really bust through with one of those Andre Woodson type senior years. We're going to have to adjust what we do a little bit on offense and definitely on defense.
