I agree. We lost to a beat up Arkansas team who had just lost something like 63-14 to Tennessee. We just needed to beat them and a not so good Ole Miss team to go the SEC Championship. We lost both games. Beginning of Sherrill's downfall IMO.

That Arkansas game in 2000 was the worst. Arkansas was terrible. It was sleeting and raining. Everyone on our team got hurt that day. We had a good shot at making the SEC Championship, and we lost. That jackass Boo Williams danced in front of our student section.

Tulane 2006, we were down 32-7 in the third quarter

At one point me and my dad looked at each other and just started laughing. Trey Rutland started that game and looked completely clueless. Croom finally put Omarr Conner in at QB and basically let him run around and make plays, and he almost led us to the comeback, but we still lost 32-29. I believe that was the "Thanks for the check" game.

Alabama 2003. I remember talking another student who went home just about every weekend into staying in Starkville and giving a football game weekend a shot. The game absolutely sucked dog balls (even though it wasn't our worst loss of the year, it was against a very mediocre Bama team). I doubt the guy ever went to another game and I wouldn't blame him for it.

Troy State 2001. They evacuated the stadium in the first half and our family didn't go back in.

Maine 2004. Our car broke down on the way there, so a tow truck had to take us to GTR so we could rent a car to get the game. We walked in the stadium right at kickoff instead of being there a few hours before as planned. We all know what happened next.

That was my first game to attend under Croom, and my next one was an embarrassing loss to UAB. I try to forget 2001-2008 altogether (outside of '07).

It will forever be 3-2...even Auburn fans, after the game at the Tavern, were in disbelief over what a craptastic thing they just witnessed.

I stayed and went to the basketball game that night. Bought a set of sweats from the bookstore so I had something dry to put on. Almost got killed leaving that night because the streets were icy. Was on old west point road and some kid in a pickup was driving too fast and lost control of his truck. Slid into my lane right in front of me. I don't know how I missed him to this day.

My initial reaction to this thread was that I never regret going to games. I can't say that I am as good as VH has been about attending games, but I've been to most of them, home and road, over the last 20 years. Suffice it to say, I've seen some ****** football along the way. But that day a-GAIN-st Arkansas is probably the worst. A distant second would be the Troy tornado game. I can still hear Hank Flick telling everyone to head for cover. I went into the police station (back then it was the Alumni center) and watched Eli and Ole Miss beat Alabama for something like the first time in 40 years. I saw someone else mention the Maine game, but that one didn't bother me as much.

Anyway, there's my novel.

So far, there's not been a game mentioned in this thread that I have missed. There've been several games over the years I've regretted missing, but I don't think I've missed one yet that I should have.

3-2 cannot be understated

I'd consider myself diehard. Had an 8 year stretch without missing a homegame, drug a toddler up to Omaha a few weeks ago, been to most other SEC Football stadiums for games, etc.. An intense follower of Bulldog football. I walked out of Davis Wade Stadium after 3-2 and swore I would NEVER set foot in that place again as long as Sylvester Croom was roaming the sidelines. And I meant it. And I would have followed through for however long it took. Of course they fired him that November. But I didn't know I had a limit until then. I didn't think I had a limit to tell you the truth. But I wasn't paying another dime to watch such a futile product. There are no words to explain to anyone who didn't see it, how bad it was.

Arkansas 2000. I was a wuss and left at the beginning of the 4th quarter. The

coat I was wearing felt like it was covered in a sheet of ice. We had the best starting 22 in the SEC that year and should have won every game. That was a year of heartbreaking upsets.

I was at this one too. Everybody left that game a loser. The Auburn fans acted

like they had lost and were just as pissed as the State fans.

Ole Miss - 2008. I should have stayed at home, like our football team did.

The worst part was that my girlfriend was a student at Ole Miss at the time, so I had to ride it out.

@Florida 2001. Nice to see the Swamp but only saw 3 quarters of it.

BTW, I have no regrets about going to Arkansas 2000. The weather was terrible and outcome worse. It has to be one of the most ominous gameday's that I've ever experienced, almost like the indian prophets had announced it from days long ago. But at least I can say that I was at the game that changed the course of MSU football.

I thought Auburn had a pretty decent team the year of the 3-2 game? Anyhoo...The defense played lights out in that game, but the offense was as futile as ever. Croom got outcoached in pretty much every game he was head coach for MSU. He just looked like a deer in the headlights on the sideline... His ineptness climaxed when he went for the 1st down on 4th and forever with the game knotted up at 3-2 with like 6 minutes left to go on about the 50 yard line. I was like "Punt you idiot!" If it wasn't for a few sporadic upsets spread across different seasons, and one flukey season where we went to a bowl game, he would be hands down the worst coach in MSU history. A nice guy, brought MSU good publicity for the hire, and he helped clean out Jackie's thugs, but he never had a sniff of the coaching aptitude guys like Richt, Miles, and Saban have.

I never regret going to the close losses to a decent teams...

Mine was Arkansas early 2000s at home. It sleeted. My nacho cheese froze. We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

What is a waste of time to me are the blow-outs and 'no shows'. There are many others that would be on my list had I been there. Here are my top 3.

#1 at USC 1992. We were ranked near the top 10 that week. USC was in a record setting losing streak. Their PLAYERS got together informally and took a vote that their coach Sparky Woods should go. I lived close by. I was starved for MSU and SEC sports having lived in what was ACC/metro conference territory for the past 6-7 years prior to the days of the internet. My family drove over to go to the game. USC fans were conceding defeat before kickoff. We got embarrassed and along with most other state fans there left way early while gamecock fans rocked the stadium. HUGE, HUGE let down.

#2 at Ga Tech 2008. A prototypical croom debacle. Sat there and watched an also-ran ACC team and our own ineptness embarrass us. Had a friggin 18 yard FG BLOCKED. The ball was snapped from the ONE YARD LINE. Left totally disgusted at the start of the 4th.

#3 at UT 1995? Peyton's Sr year. It was a wet, cool, uncomfortable day. We were never in the game at any time and peyton & co hung 50+ on us. Again, a way early exit.
