What is the over/under on the # of days until all the MSU bicycles are stolen?

STARKVILLE - More students and faculty on the campus of Mississippi State University will soon be moving about on two wheels.

MSU has ordered 100 bicycles and will spread them around campus when they arrive in late October or early November.

Students and faculty then will be able to ride the bikes from one campus location to another and drop them off at their destinations free of charge.

Officials say the new bicycle program will, among other things, ease traffic congestion.

The program may be expanded if faculty and students like it.

The bikes will be emblazoned with the MSU colors and logo. They will be registered with campus parking services.</font>

someone will go out and fall off of one of them or get run over in a crosswalk (since you are not supposed to cross them on bikes). i hope they at least have some sort of waiver in place that holds water in court.

i think it is a great idea to do it. i rode the bike all the time to campus.</p>

Jackson State should try something like this. It would ease traffic congestion within an urban environment.

Yeah, 285lb 6' 4" Darrell is gonna ride the free bike from the Wise Center to his class in McCool hall and then when he walks out of class he is going to get a warm fuzzy feeling when 120lb 5' 3" Lee Wong Kim gets on said bike to ride off into the sunset. I am sure Darrell will graciously relinquish the bike in the spirit of brotherly sharing.

if you read this board and you stole a purple trek off a porch at The Commons that year I hate you.

they did something like that up here last year, but they used donated bikes, so the University didn't have to shell out as much money.

10 pts for making them crash
7 points for making them flip you off
5 points for dousing them with puddle water

Winner gets a chicken dinner.

On a related note, anybody from a culture that thinks the lines between lanes on a road are just for decoration should not be allowed to drive on campus.

<span class="post-title">"I smell a liability issue."

I don't know what liability smells like. I'll take a quick sniff of the seat when one is parked in front of the girls dorm to check it out.</span>

But I figure these bikes will eventually disappear or fall apart from all the use.

Plus, I see too many idiots on bicycles as it is: riding into traffic, darting across cross walks and buzzing by slow foot traffic on the sidewalks.

Cool idea, though.
