Ode Burell coached me in High School at Stone High School. He was fun to be around but probably a far cry from where he was when he was with the Oilers. Still love em though. Once tried to block someone off of a punt and it hit my foot, luckly we recovered and ran back for a touchdown. Came off the field and he said "That was the stupidest 17ing thing you have ever done." We lost the State Championship that year to Water Valley, wish we could have gone out on top for him. RIP Ode.
One night a rather small student who had been drinking got in Ode's face about something, and refused to shut up and go away. Ode's response was to knock the crap out of the drunk's friend, who was somewhat larger, and almost ripped his eyebrow off. When asked why, Ode replyed "The ******* was to little for me to hit, but I had to hit somebody."
