Sure we couldn't be in that bracket..............god we get Indiana, North Carolina and either WVU or Xavier...........Virginia happiest team in the world right now.

Goes to show a couple of things:

1-No one, and I mean no one, is immune to variable levels of performance that can happen in a single-elimination tournament. You may be a worthy 2 seed, but if you meet the 15 in the one game out of 50 when they play like a top 20 team, and you play way down from your normal level, then you are going to lose.

2- There has been a huge element of luck to Izzo's NCAA success. He's one of the greats, and there aren't a lot of better coaches, but he's not some wizard who has the formula or magic spell that guarantees tourney success.

If not the biggest upset in first round history, certainly among the top 2 or 3.

Big 10 is extremely down this year. That's why I don't put much stock in IU winning the regular season championship.

This has to be one of the biggest upsets in tourney history as MSU was one of the favorites to win it all....and they say there isn't much difference from a 1 or 2 seed huh ? #1 seeds have never lost there is always a huge difference in talent from the 16 and 15 seeds.

The Big 10 is actually over-rated. Just like every year. It seems like most years, they get a ton of teams in the tournament and they all embarrass the league. Indiana is next!

msu/izzo reminds me of the uk/tubby years. when they had good teams, it was a bunch of over achieving players. guys who played well together but talent that didnt pop off the floor. always touted by media, but often lost to regular teams when it mattered
