The strongest part of the D-Fence is our secondary without a doubt.

Look at the teams w/ good qb's you will face:
au: two qb's neither of whom can pass well;
ga. tech: doesn't pass much;
lsu: who is the qb?
vandy: running qb who doesn't pass well
ut: new qb still waiting;
mtsu: ?
UK: has no qb;
bama: jpw is decent only
ark: qb sucks
om: best qb you will face all year.

Not exactly a murders row of qb's on that schedule.

Actually, I'd say that Arkansas with Dick may be one of the best pass attacks MSU faces this year. The SEC isn't exactly stacked with QBs this year. Outside of Stafford and Tebow, there isn't a whole lot in the way of proven QBs. The next most proven guy is JPW, and that's not saying much.

Not sure if you caught it, but he was essentially saying we're the "skinniest fat kid" when it comes to the QBs on your schedule.

it'll be interesting to see how long brandon mcrae leads the league in rec per game (at 6 right now).

Not really... all he said was that OM had the best qb we'd face all year...

And he's probably right, which I'm pretty sure is implying that we're the skinniest fat kid if you look at the QBs you'll face this year. The only two proven QBs in the SEC are Stafford and Tebow, and you face neither of them. Early returns say Snead is probably the best of the rest. It isn't saying much, which is why it's a skinniest fat kid argument.

nothing. Theoretically, you could have a bottom 30 passing defense in total yardage but still have a very good pass defense.

I'm sure that ol' Ellis has been helped by the fact that NC State and Vandy have zero passing game and very little offense to speak of.

that statistics are for losers...don't be one. Quoting statistics is kind of like "hoping."

...of the Ole Miss at Wake Forest game, and, I will flatly say all the preseason hype about Jevan Snead was true. He is mobile in the pocket, can run when needed, and throws accurate darts. I was impressed. I am not sure, but you may have another Romaro Miller on your hands. I think Tebow and Stafford are the cream of the conference, but Jevan Snead sure looks to be at least 1/2 and 1/2. Tighten up that secondary, get some linebackers who can wrap up, and you will be bowling this year. I also like Branden Bolden. That guy runs hard and runs with purpose. I wasn't overly impressed with either Cordera Eason or Enrique Davis, they seemed to want to run more laterally than vertically. Your WR's are some gooduns.

Snead is good. But Running the ball has gotten teams so much farther in the SEC then passing has.

Wait til we play teams with talent and a real quarterback before you start boasting about the secondary being our strength. We only have about 4 or 5 more spread offenses to go up against this season. Also, Taylor Bennett is one of the worst D1 quarterbacks I've seen in a while and he made Marcus Washington his *****.

You're probably right, but we haven't done either the run or the pass well since 2003, so I'll take points any way we can score them. I'm just tired of having one of the worst scoring offenses in the league. Our offensive strength this year, personnel-wise just happens to be in the passing game. I think we have a chance to have a decent ground game, but we haven't shown it so far.

By the way, don't ever say what you just said to Arkansas fans. They don't want to hear it.
