I thought y'all might enjoy seeing this photo of the coaching staff from the late 1930s. My grandfather, "Pee Wee" Armstrong is picture here (back row, 3rd from left) along with Sasse and others. The other pic is from the 1950s and is a snapshot of my grandfather's SEC officiating crew; he also was an SEC basketball official in the '50s and '60s. "Pee Wee" is most famous for throwing the winning touchdown pass to Fred Walters when the Maroons beat national powerhouse, Army, in 1937 (I think). I have the sports page from a NY newspaper framed and I'll snap a photo of it and re-post later. It's got a great headline in 2" letters: "Black Day for Army's Black Knights" with a half-page photo of "Pee Wee."

I've got the framed program and ticket hanging in my man cave. Looking forward to seeing the paper, and thanks a ton for sharing.

I snapped this pic this weekend. It's the pennant "Pee Wee" brought back from Army after the Maroons defeated them in the '30s. He also gave me this old Spalding football, though I'm not sure how old it is. He had a bunch of old footballs in his collection, and he said this was an oldgame ball from his playing days, but he could have been mistaken. It isconsiderably larger indiameter than today's footballs, I believe. I have an old deflated ball from the bowl team that played Duquesne (and for whom he was an assistant coach) that is painted / stenciled with all the players and coaches names, scores, etc. I'll post a pic of it when I get back over to my parents' house and get a snapshot of the "Black Day for Army's Black Knights" newspaper article.

Here is the page from the MS Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson (class of '76). The picture is from the team baseball photo, and I would like to get a copy of the original photo of the whole team if any of you can help.

I thought this news clipping was from a paper in NY, but it is from the 11/2/35 edition of The Meridian Star. Still pretty cool. There is also an original stock photo of "Pee Wee" Armstrong. I think the photo is from '34.
