Sounds like no matter what happened he would have had no less than a B overall for the year. A 'B' is Algebra is fine so it wasn't like he made a 'D' and someone said lets give him an 'A' as you implied.

The story says one teacher taught the 1st semester and another taught the 2nd. The missing grade was from the 1st semester. I'm getting the impression that Aberdeen isn't exactly a Tier 1 academic school.
