Per someone on the staff, both Carroll and Lee refused to play in the second half of the OM game. Not that they couldn't, or got benched, they refused. That's why Lee was laughing on the sideline when Relf got hit that time.

It may have had a lot to do with Croom "resigining" as well.

I can't say this is 100% true, but it did come directly from someone on the staff.

it would have been awesome if croom had been left in the locker room at half though.

from what I hear. Lee asked to be taken out after the 5th or 6th time he was driven into the fake grass. The trainer took one look at his swollen face and said OK.

But those were two different types of coaches. In the movie who have a good coach who is a dick head and in Miss State case you have a bad coach who seems to be a pretty good guy.

I'm not buying simply because Lee re-entered the game like twice after the outcome had been long decided and I kept wondering why Lee agreed to go back out there.

I still hold that Lee wasn't laughing at Relf getting hit, but laughing at how he jumped right back up and bowed up like it didn't hurt.

Finally both Lee and Carroll seem to have a little moxie and be somewhat team leaders so I highly doubt the both would refuse to go back in a game if their coach asked. Remember Lee supposedly was upset at Croom getting fired and had some comments that backed that up as I recall.

looked to throw a good ball.

I know his stats amy have stunk, but he was running for his life.

Purely from a throwing standpoint, he looked much better than the things I had read on this and other MSU message boards. When he came in, I was expecting him to look much worse.

My source could have embellished however I did not think it was my position to question one of the biggest doners in MSU history. Take it for what its worth, this is a free board.

Any scholarship QB that is such a ***** that he refuses to go in a game (no matter how bad he is getting his *** kicked) should be immediately kicked off the team (& possibly even kicked out of school).

Since I refuse to believe either Carroll or Lee are such *****/cowards, I am calling ******** on this rumor.

& all you State fans buying into what this Rebel douchebag is saying about or QB's are pathetic.

You're probably right. I'm just having a hard time understanding why someone on the athletic staff would say it if it wasn't true. I can verify it was said.

Well, for Lee, I know he had hurt his shoulder, and he had cut his face from getting pounded so much, so I wouldn't doubt it from him. I re-watched the game the other day, and the first 3 times Lee dropped back to pass he came up with his chinstrap in his mouth. He was getting pounded. I don't know if what OP says is true, but if I was Lee and the game was out of hand like it was, I think I'd have used the injuries to be able to stay on the sideline.

so I'm not buying that. Unless he was sick of that pansy *** OL not even trying to block anybody. I could buy Carroll refusing to go in. After all, he's leaving anyway, supposedly. And, for God's sake, the team was playing like they had quit anyway.

Now, now. We all know a friend of Goldie's, who is not a "OM booster" bought that SUV and allowed Goldie to drive it.

I hope we are handing out cash to the waterboy.

As long as we don't get caught what do I care if we are handing out free stuff.

...but that's exactly what happened. I know the guy who bought him the vehicle. It's really no secret to anybody that knows the family. He's not an Ole Miss fan and neither is his son who was coach of Goldie's at Butler CC. They worked on Goldie to get him to UM to help the kid but probably mostly to help the son look like a friend of the program for potential job help in the future.

The son is now the offensive coordinator at South Panola, incidentally.

I don't have 1st hand knowledge of that particular situation. However, it is a typical tactic in recruiting now-a-days (and any other type of fraud/money laundering) to put assets in other names. Most good players have a handler. You have to be extremely naive to not see it in this situation. But don't get all pissed about it.

A recent very talented SEC RB did not receive a dime during his 4 years. However, his uncle sure as hell did. So, everyone does it.

probably not true simply because if Carroll was pissed at Croom, why would he want to transfer when we replaced him? Or was he pissed that people wanted Croom gone?

Anyway, I am pretty sure that Croom was losing control of his team with his asinine decisions on gameday among other things, whether this rumor is true or not.

No way this is true. If a healthy player refused to play, Croom would have kicked him off the team, as I would expect them to.

I will never forget seeing Tracy Rocker cover his mouth and go " OHHHHHHHHH"! after Relf was pounded into the turf after an incomplete pass. I told my UM buddies that payback will be hell ! They were laughing their asses off then, but now--they are worried!
