A Mississippi State University honors student from Clinton collapsed Thursday night in his campus residence hall and later died at the Oktibbeha County Hospital.</p> <div class="articleflex-container"> <div class="articleflex"> </div> </div>
Matthew Gatewood, 18, was pronounced dead at approximately 9:45 p.m. at OCH, according to officials.
"This is a great tragedy for a very promising young man and an outstanding student, and it is a great loss to the Bulldog family," said Bill Kibler, vice president for student affairs. "We grieve with Matthew's family and friends, and we extend the sympathy and support of the entire MSU family."
Gatewood's cause of death has not been released.</p> </div>

He was pronounced dead at OCH. I heard he had a siezure. I'm guessing the paramedics tubed him and kept him "alive" until they reached the ER and testing determined he was brain dead.
