They hammered us bc we looked like a Top 50 team against OM.
I agree about us having the better results on paper, but I guess I can't complain too much after that craptastic performance Saturday either.

I look at
TCU being third as it suggesting state would've been 5, if we had beat OM, barring we blow them out. No way they leave FSU out.

I hate to be to be the bearer of bad news, for Miss. St to make a selection bowl now, Baylor must beat K-State or Ohio State has to beat Wisconsin. The Starting QBs for both Baylor and OSU are injured. Bryce Petty's status is unknown for this weekend.
I don't understand most of your post. Baylor and KSU are currently both ranked ahead of us, so neither could jump is. The only possibility is that one would drop. Wisconsin could jump, but OSU would also potentially fall. That OSU would fall enough is the only concern, although a dropping KSU or Baylor could put us back in.
To be safe, we should pull for FSU over Ga Tech, otherwise Tech would jump us. And I don't think FSU would fall out of the Top 10 with a loss.
I agree with this. TCU had a more resounding performance than us. We would have had to beat Ole Miss by a large margin (a la Vanderbilt) to get to the #3 spot.
Missouri beating Alabama is the only way we DON'T make a New Year's Six bowl. Guaranteed the Peach, Cotton, or Fiesta. Orange is out of the question with other MSU above us.
We are top 10. Plus simple math tells us that it's really top 11. 4 playoff teams, plus 8 teams in the 4 remaining bowls, one of which would be a lower-ranked Boise State. We are the highest ranked SEC team outside of the playoff. We will be in the Cotton, Peach or Fiesta.
If Missouri beats Alabama, then Missouri likely jumps us, and we are the third highest SEC team. At that point we're looking at Citrus.

There are not many scenarios that would bump us out of the Top 10. Even if Wisconsin beats Ohio State, there are still other teams that will fall, Kansas State/Baylor being one. Arizona will probably fall. Not to mention that we are the 2nd ranked SEC team. We are getting one of the Big 6 unless Missouri wins.
As for Michigan State and Kansas State being ahead of us, hopefully we will nut up and destroy whoever we play in the bowl, and prove SEC dominance.

That's the second time today I've stopped taking various bowl sites at their word and just read the frickin' CFP site like I should have in the first place.
This year, thanks to Boise and GT (via the Orange Bowl not being a semifinal site), we do need to finish in the Top 10 to get a Big 6 berth.
Therefore, to guarantee a Big 6 slot we need Bama to win AND one of Baylor or Ohio State to win.
It's possible that a losing Baylor or Ohio State might drop below us if they lost badly enough, but I doubt it, particularly OSU.

Well it could just be that 7 thru 10 are incredibly close. There's going to be some movement on every ballot with KSU and Arizona even moving up or falling out. We could conceivably jump them without anyone actually changing their mind on either of us. But I agree, it's tough to see it happening.

Sorry, man. The Orange Bowl is one of three contract bowls that don't follow the same rules when they're not hosting a semifinal.

MSU had to be SEC champs and 12-1 (loss to Bama) or 13-0 to be in Final 4...
and I wouldn't have been surprised if MSU (a 12-1, SEC champion) had been left out of the CFP.
I always believed that the CFP committee was hoping, aiming for, and trying to get four conference champs into the CFP... and now, they are almost there. Barring two or more upsets, the committee will get what they want.

This x100. Everyone needs to take a breath. We will be in an elite bowl. Tech is in the orange win or lose. Wisconsin winning the B1G would probably knock Mississippi out of an elite bowl so go badgers.
They are not guaranteed anything if FSU wins and somehow falls to 5th. Re-read my post, man. I know the Orange Bowl rules. And I know that's a longshot. Was just throwing it out there. GT is not automatically in the Orange Bowl at this point.
