Has anyone ever requested permission to use MSU logos on products? I am interested in making some products and want to do it on the up and up, if it's not a difficult process or requires a large percentage of the sale.

You gotta buy liability insurance. That's gonna cost you about $1200. Advances and fees are about $400. Then they get 10-12 percent of sales. LRG handles it all. Despite what some folkes on this board think they are great to deal with.
Liability insurance? Is that to protect the school, say, if someone beats up someone else with a bat I made with an interlocking MS on it?

Liability insurance covers you and them if someone gets hurt with your product. LRG is licensing resource group. They are a licensing agent. Google LRG licensing. Instructions are on their site to apply for a license.
Does that $1200 cover your whole business and all your products or just the licensed MSU products?

The insurance would cover your entire business and most likely all products you produce. $1200 is very, especially if you are just thinking of doing this as a side job and not producing a whole lot. I would have to say you would be paying around $500-$600 annually for your GL insurance. Depending on the product you are making, of course.
And how much of it you're selling. It would probably be based on your gross sales if you're in the retail business.
Insurance is based on gross sales. We have been doing this for 3 years now. I started from scratch with 0 sales with a product that shouldn't hurt anybody. I haven't paid less than $1000 per year and I have done a bunch of shopping. I think the price is due to the fact that the coverage is pretty specific.

I'm not an insurance agent, but the link below has a searchable database of insurance providers by state based on the category of insurance. If your category of insurance is not in the data base it's probably not available. Ins. coverage from A-Z (Adult Porn to a Zoo)
