If he was and that was a forward pass, that's an illegal play. You are right- it was close to being forward if it wasn't.

The ball was snapped just outside of the 13 and Relf was around the 16 when he tossed it. Ballard was also behind the LOS when he caught it.

The Georgia running back was blind as a bat after the hit. Couldn't find the ball, it was right between his legs. He was never the same after that.

that the UGA dropping the ball in the end zone was a "blown opportunity" .. while it certainly was, give some credit to Whitley for hitting him in the mouth and jarring the ball loose. That was a "made play"

Relf was behind the LOS and lateraled it forward to Ballard who was (barely) behind the LOS. So it's a legal forward pass and you can't call ineligible down field because it was caught behind the LOS. Completely legal any way you look at it.

The entire rest of the game, the commentators would not shut-up about how "Georgia should be up 21-7 right now", and that Georgia keeps killing themselves. Yea they helped dig their own grave, but that doesn't negate the fact that we made some huge defensive plays to supplement their misfortune. God forbid poor little Mississippi State beat an upper echelon team on their own terms.
