Brett Norsworthy has been doing the Mt Rushmore of an SEC team each week on Sports 56. What would be your four faces of MSU football history?

This should be a pretty good topic

My fandom only spans back to 2000, so I'm not even going to pretend like I have a clue who the biggest 4 names are... I would think Jackie Sherrill gets one of the spots though, as he's arguably had the most success of any coach in history.

And I know Dan is only in year #4, but he's on pace to have his name etched into our history books as well. I would think a BCS bowl (whether this year or in the next 3 or 4) would put him on the mountain.

My picks

John Micheal Marlin, Will Prosser, Micheal Henig and Anthony Hargro

Without these guys, how would we have filled up 10 years worth of message board space on the Pack?

Rodney Stowers, Keefer McGee, Earnest Garner, and Jonathan Bell

Four men taken way before they should have been. If you're looking strictly at performance, Sherrill, Mckeen, Cristil, and Cooks.

I think Elliot should be etched in there so he can forever rock the duece. Maybe next to him Templeton Hardy. Tyson Lee. Adam Carlson. Kevin Fant. Zach Smith.

From that list, I don't know that we can pick 4.

(Cristil, Sherrill, Cooks, and then some other player who is picked from what he did here and not the NFL... Ruling out Moulds)

Edit: Parker should be the 4th.

Oops. Nick Bell. Good grief, I can remember the players from 20 years ago, but

not from 2 years ago.

I love Smoot, but he was here for 2 years. Not to take anything away from him, because in honestly he's probably our most nationally famous alum (football), but the sample size is too small. At this point I think Banks has passed him or met him as greatest ever at that position.

Jackie Parker and DD Lewis are College Football Hall of Famers so even though most of us never saw them play at State, I would guess they have to be there. I think you have to go with Johnnie Cooks as well. For spot #4 I think arguments could be made for McKeen, Sherrill, Cristil, Norwood, Don Smith, Rockey, John Bond, Kent Hull, and former Starkville mayor Billy Stacy. I would probably cast my lot with Jackie. A lot of those names won't make for good radio though. Hoping THIS IS OUR SHOW tackles the topic this week.

Its hard to narrow it down to four but Smoot, Dixon, Banks, Chris White, KJ

Wright, Russell, Cox, Cristil should be the top names

Shorty McWilliams - 4 time All SEC

Shorty McWilliams was All SEC in 1944, 1946, 1947, and 1948. He played for an undefeated Army team in 1945, and General Maxwell Taylor implied that we were paying him to come back to MSU.

Saw him at Bulldog Deli before South Al game...

, Will Prosser

And didn't know whether to punch him or shake his hand, but then I rembered he has no hands and I refrained from the other option. As it was too early in the day to get arrested yet.

Sherrill, Critsil, Cooks, and Lewis. With Mullens knocking heavily, right outside.
