– Has Mullen before going after more run-capable quarterbacks lately? His last three signees fit the mold. He says no. “To me it hasn’t been a concerted effort to try to get this style of guy. Our focus at the quarterback position is to get the guy who has the ‘it.’”

I mean what do you want the guy to say?

"Yeah, from here on out we're only going to recruit dual threats. We're only playing Tyler Russell because we have to."

Pretty sure Greenlee was going to committ if Mullen gave him an offer. Why would he come all this way just for a visit? Since we didn't get anybody today that wasn't already committed I think Mullen dropped the ball on this one. I doubt the next QB committ under Mullen is as good as Greenlee. js

Damien is considered the best prospect from NOLA and one of the top guys in the state... Much like Gray, just didn't have the hype for some reason.

He's a safety blanket. If he is never more than a backup, that's fine, if he turns out to be great, that's better. We just couldn't afford to not sign a QB. You run the risk of another Schdubknxller situation with a guy from 2000 miles away missing home, and not fitting into the offense is another concern.

Damien is going to contend for playing time at some point. I posted last week

that I had spoken with a guy that knew him well and who knows football and he says this guy is a steal for us.
I trust what he is telling me.

He came all this way to visit to see how he would like it here- which was a good move on his part. The bottom line is we are too far from home for him otherwise we would have taken him.

I didn't hear it that way but if he wanted to commit I personally would have been fine with it and taken 3 QBs given Golden left and Sandberg's situation. However, I don't think our staff ever intended to take 3 QBs. I do think Williams fits our system better.

Second that. I like what williams brings. I don't care if he was committed to timbucktooth state. See what I did there?

Talent, and what they do from when they get to campus till they step on the field is what matters.

Well we all have our favorites that get away each year. Greenlee was mine after watching his highlight video and the Elite 11 videos. Alexander was there too till he hat punked us. I like DB's though so maybe Irvin-Sills can be the next Banks/Slay for MSU?
