Mullen is now 0-18 vs Top 20 Teams...

After A&M he will be 0-181, then Bama 0-19, then the probably the Bears 0-20.

Our best season under Mullen was 2010 (9-4) with Croom's players...
What have we done since then?
Mullen is in year 5, and has never beaten a Top 20 team, and never will.

He hasn't beaten a Top 25 team since 2010, let that sink in, It's 2013...
2009 (win over #25 Ole Miss)
2010 (win over #22 UF)

I am and have been on the fire Dan campaign since the A&M game last year. I guess I never believed....
Dan is over-rated and doesn't have a clue on how to coach an offense.
All he knows is what he learned from Urban Meyer.
It's clear that Mullen doesn't know how to run any other type of offense, and we don't have the players at State to do run it.
Dan was just the yes man for Meyer, just like Les is his yes man at MSU for Dan.. It was all one big ruse..
Mullen should thank Urban for the Big Payday we keep giving him..

Mullen's last win over a BCS conference team with a winning record was Michigan..
That says all you need to know..More proof that Dan is just not that good of a coach.
Our program is on the decline once again.
Mullen peaked in year 2 with our win over Michigan, it's been downhill since...

People keep posting this as if it hadn't been posted many times before, and no matter how many times people point out that Mullen actually does have a win against a top 20 team, it never gets corrected. I did see one guy who changed his argument to 0-whatever against top 15 teams.

That was their final ranking I do believe.
I am using the teams' ranking at the time we played them in the Coaches Poll.
I did not make this up, it all started after I heard the stat on TV, and I just kept it rolling since.

Who gives a **** what they were ranked when we played them? That's an incomplete ranking. As someone pointed out today, Rockey Felker beat a Tennessee team that was ranked in the top 10 when we played them. That team wound up 6-5 and unranked. Does that mean he beat a top 10 team? Of course not. He beat a mediocre team.

So with your logic, we really didn't beat #1 Bama in 1980. That's our biggest win ever and you are now discounting it...
You might want to rethink that... They ended the season #6, I never hear about us beating #6 Bama 6-3 in 1980, do you?

It's all about where they were ranked when you beat them..

No, you're wrong. The rank in the middle of the season is made up and often later disproven.

Should LSU and Auburn get credit for beating a "ranked" MSU team in 2011? Of course not. Not a big deal for them because we went 6-6.
Should LSU and Auburn get credit for beating a ranked MSU team in 2010? Of course! We were a top 15 team, even though the voters didn't realize it at the time.

Yes. We accept this argument, Top 20 or not. But this is not the cause, it's the effect.

I think Fish makes a great point. And the fact that it takes a 17ing full thread every time to argue whether Ole miss was #20 or #25 when we beat them in damn 2010 makes it even more pathetic and relevant. Who gives a **** if they were 20 or 25....the point is, it has been 3 years since we beat anybody worth a ****, and even then the team we DID beat was just barely worth a ****.

He was 0-3 in 2009 (LSU, UF, Bama), 0-3 in 2010 (LSU, Bama, Ark), 0-4 in 2011 (LSU, USC, Bama, Ark), 0-3 in 2012 (Bama, TAMU, LSU), 0-3 this year (OSU, LSU, USC). That adds up to 16. He's 0-16 again the top 20 by the Coaches' Poll.

Now, here's the real kicker I noticed, mostly because I'm sick of arbitrary stats like "Top 20", when every person without an agenda would use the entire Top 25, or Top 10 if you're looking for national power status: State has only played 1 team ranked between 16 and 20 in the Coaches' Poll in Mullen's 5 years, and that was TAMU last year. Mullen is 0-15 against the Top 15, 0-1 against 16-20, and 2-3 against teams ranked 21 to 25.

Now here is a stat list we can work with:
0-4 against Alabama...hmm....they usually play pretty decent football(3 of last 4 NC)and quite possibly 3rd in row this year...and haven't lost to an un-ranked team (at end of year) since Dan Mullen became our Coach.
0-5 vs. LSU.....hmm.... I think MSU has beaten LSU once since 1986...maybe twice...too old to remember.
0-2 vs. Arkansas...Have we ever beaten Arkansas in the State of Arkansas?
0-2 vs. USCe... Probably Mullen's best 2 chances to beat a Top 15-20 team.
0-1 vs. Texas A&M...best QB in the SEC since....well....maybe ever..playing against Wilson's defense....no more need added.
0-1 vs. UF...Ummm....Mullen's first year...following the collapse of the century the previous year by Crooms and CO.
0-1 vs. OK St....Truly a head scratcher based on how well our defense played and our offense looked like they had not even had Spring Football or Fall practice.

But how anyone could expect us to beat LSU and Bama when hardly anyone else has, makes one ponder. And before anyone throws out the Bears Beat ranked LSU, that is about as puzzling an upset as Tennessee beating South Carolina. Should not have been close, but Miles had "one of his games" that we see every year.

The Bears were 20th in the November 22, 2009 AP poll. After we beat them, they dropped out of the Top 25. They were 25th in the Coaches Poll. Most of us go by the AP.

So Mullen has beaten a team ranked in the top 25.

They were 8-3 when we beat them, making them 8-4. But they finished the year at 9-5 and ranked 20th AP and 21st Coaches.

I am sick of this woe is me, we are the little Mississippi State attitude.

The fact is Dan has not beaten a Top 20 team ever.
This year Ole Miss, Vandy, Auburn and Tenn all beat a Top 20 team in the same weekend. That stings..
Mullen is just not getting it done here at MSU. Is it too much to ask for one Top 20 win by year 5????

Mullen hasn't beaten a Top 25 team since 2010, that's 3 years ago...
