and they'd be crazy to hire him. I do think it's ridiculous that his name was even mentioned. We were 5-7...one game above the previous year. Do I like the overall job he did this year? yes. Let's have a winning season and bowl win before this gets crazy.

That would be a lateral move for him at best. I daresay that MSU is a better job than KU right now.

We have good facilities, good fan support, he doesn't have to compete with KU basketball program, we have better recruits than Kansas, do I need to go on?

all things being equal, as a coach, I'd rather coach in the easier conference. Makes attaining success and turning the program around easier to do.

Would you rather coach against the SEC West or the Big 12 North if you had to get wins?

except for NU. Despite their past 10 years the Huskers are still the best program in the North and it will remain that way. I still don't think they hire Mullen. After we have a winning season next year we will need to up the salary.

Very true. And I would certainly think about that if this was last year and had the 2 jobs to pick from. But Mullen is here with things headed in the right direction so I can't see a move to a similar job, even though it would be an easier division to compete in.

but if you just had to pick the easier job to get turned around, its Kansas...a 9-3 State team 8 times out of 10 is probably going to be a better team than a 11-1 Kansas team...the schedule the SEC plays is sick...

know Mullen, but I'd think most college coaches like him (young, ambitious) aren't looking for the easiest place to get wins, guys like him want challenges and want to play with/beat the best. Typically successful people are driven by challenges, not finding the easiest way to be successful, in this case win football games.</p>

What else explains him taking this job? And another thing, I think once you make it to the SEC as a head coach, you probably only move on if you have to. Outside of the NFL, it's the most talented league there is. I think when/if Mullen leaves us for greener pastures, it will be another SEC school or a premier school in a BCS conference; Kansas doesn't quite fit that description.
