I think they would be after the embarrassment Spurrier went through.
Two ways to look at. If UM ended up ranked, Mullen could certainly say that we beat a ranked team. On the other hand, being able to tell recruits you're ranked at the end of the year trumps that. So my guess is that he ranked them because he thinks they're pretty good - and that he doesn't have a motive.
