"I don't know if it's more," he said before the event. "Our expectations never change. We're in this to find a way to win the SEC West and get to Atlanta. That's what you can control. You can't control anything else.<span class="aa"></span></p>

<span class="pp"></span>"That's going to be our goal - (those were) our expectations for last season and really, that's our expectation for this season and will be 10 years from now when I'm the coach here."</p>

I thought this was an interesting exerpt. What do y'all think? Coaches speak to quite fans' minds or legitimate? I'd have to go with the former. No coach in his right mind would say, "and will be 2 years from now before I leave for a better job..." </span></p>

<span class="aa">Sorry if Germans.

the last part about when he's the coach here. Think about it none of us can guarantee our futures tomorrow much less ten years from now. But I guess it's nice to see that he's at least interested in staying, and not ready to jump in the first ship out of town.

Now, if he'd said he was only leaving in a "Pine Box" I might have believed him.

I don't care how long he stays, I just hope it's a helluva ride while he's here.</p>

Regardless of what Mullen's current intent is, I guarantee the "Mullen is gone in two years" hand is being dealt often on the recruiting front. Frankly, it's a great hand to play if going head to head with Mullen over talent. Statements like that could (despite it being obvious coach-speak) potentially ease a recruit's mind on whether or not he thinks Mullen will be around for more than a couple of seasons. They would like devalue statements like that, but it can't hurt.

He is very happy in Starkville. It probably frustrates him a little not having some of the advantages he enjoyed at Fla, but he for the most part loves his job.

It is going to take a top job for him to leave us. LSU, Fla, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State....etc....he isnt going to leave to go to Kansas, Missouri, South Fla, Virginia...etc

You only leave an SEC coaching job if you can go to a power school that can compete for a NC year in and year out

to say? every coach everywhere is going to be there forever. mullen may be coach at msu for the next 20 yrs or he could be gone in december, and i think that's true of just about every college coach out there. even a meyer, richt or brown could be had by somebody..maybe the pros.. but no coach is going to say so.

I'm sure one of you on here has a file of quotes you are building to use against him in6-7 years when he bolts. Can we please not go down that road? We all know how this works.

Be very wary of the husband who fawns all over his wife in public with sickening, overt displays of affection. That MFer is getting him some chicken on the side. Book it.

Same here.

keep the machine going? Just a thought, not really related to the thread. I agree with you for the record.

If Mullen leaves next year, I hope we either promote or maybe pickup Rich Rod.

think he will lose it. Folks I know that are a lot closer to the program than I am say he is an impressive guy and a good coach that relates well to the players. The only problem might be hanging in there long enough if Mullen stays a while.

and im not trying to be a smartass here......It is very obvious other schools are telling players Mullen wont be his coach all 4 years.....Mullen knows recruits read the internet.....he put it out there so the real heros like us get the message out to the recruits via the interwebs and for all of us who can actually speak to recruits in the dead times....

the man is a genius....
