Mullen is too smart to go to Miami. He's got one good jump in him, but it wont be Miami. Simply put, its not the jump he wants to end up at. You don't just jump for something a little better and risk losing the chance for somewhere you really want to go. Otherwise, you risk pulling a Kragthrope...

At the University of Tulsa, we entered the 2003 season with something like 6 wins in the last ten years. I know for sure it was a total of 2 wins in the prior two seasons. Tulsa hired Steve Kragthorpe and in his first year Tulsa went 8-5. It wasn't a one shot wonder either. In 2005 he took TU to the C-USA championship, won there and then beat Fresno State at the Liberty Bowl. In Tulsa, the man was like God. Tulsa is a lot like Southern Miss, but with much better academics. TU finally had a program that didn't simply get OU and OSU leftovers.

Then in 07, he get's offered at #10 preseason ranked Louisville, which returned most of their returning Orange Bowl Champs. Tulsa was distraught, but Kragthorpe was doomed. Everyone knew he wanted to use UL as another stepping school to get a big time program offer. In his first year, Louisville went 6-6, not getting a bowl, breaking a 9 year streak. The next year was worse and he led Louisville to their first losing season in over a decade. After year two, Kragthorpe was fired. He went on to take a WR coach job at aTm, but never showed up on campus. Currently unemployed.

Of other note, TU hasn't had a losing season since and went 9-3 this year. True this is in C-USA, but he left the program in a state in which we built off of.
