"I've never listened to it. I evaluate every call we make throughout the game, offensively, defensively, special teams; making sure we're putting our players in position to be successful. That's about as far as the questioning goes. I get paid to coach, not to second-guess. My job is to first-guess! A lot of other people get to second-guess, that's why they're in the position they're in and why I'm in the position I'm in."

He's right. Armchair coaching decisions are worth what we pay for them. Nothing.

All that matters are the decisions he makes in the game and how well our players execute those decisions. Yesterday, he did a great job calling plays. We just didn't execute on some.

That's all.

Last week, Mullen said he and LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton had shared notes when the two coaches were at different jobs. This week, he said he had previously shared notes with Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson about his unique triple option offense. "I have met with Paul Johnson, talked on the phone, as we developed our own version of running some option football throughout the years," Mullen said.
This is where having a head coach that is from the college game helps. Familiarity with opponents.

The jump pass on 3rd down was wide open and the option pitch to Dixon was wide open. We should have scored on both of those plays.

mentioned before, but I like the way he continues to blame the staff for not coaching up instead of blaming the players even though they are the ones to execute the play, or not. I believe he will only get better at coaching up the players.

That's the key to the play, getting the ball high. I feel comfortable that next time we see the play he won't make that mistake.

9 times out of 10 the pass he threw (even though it wasn't high enough) will score the TD. The LSU DB made a great play.
