comitts' interviews on BDJ states that the comitt (I think it was Redmond, sp??) asked Dan about it & Dan said he wasn't going anywhere.

Brassell is an outside guy, Singleton is a slot guy. And I don't think there's any way we can play Brassell at corner. He would immediately become our best deep threat the second he put on a maroon jersey. Plus, we loaded up pretty good at corner last year with Love and Hughes, plus we got Whitehead this year.

"Coach, if Florida asked for and receivedpermission to talk with you, would you talk to them?"

It's a simple yes or no question that would tell us volumes by his answer (which wouldn't be "yes or no" I'm sure).

I think/pray he'll be our coach next year, but I still haven't heard a definitive statement from him.

What is the guy supposed to say. Do you want him to say that if Florida calls me I am gone. Or do you just want him to list where he would leave for and for how much? We all know that if he wants to go somewhere he is not going to tell us. You will know for sure when he signs a new contract with a large buyout.

Any jackwagon with a comp can create a website and post any ******** they won't without any recourse. Two things will now happen cause of this: 1) State fans will freak out, and 2) Ole Miss fans will treat is as gospel and use it to recruit against us. All the Rebels want for Christmas is Dan Mullen to take another coaching job and stop kicking their ***.

Yes, somebody is lying. I just hope its Neil Shulman. What do you expect Mullen to say though. I want to believe this is over, but until Florida and Miami hire somebody not named Mullen, I am going to worry.

I think Brassell is a better WR than CB from the times that I have seen him play. I'm not saying that he is a bad CB- but I am saying that he is a better WR. He does very well cathing deep passes, and I think he could actually play both the slot and outside. It's kind of hard to tell though because South Panola doesn't throw a whole lot of screens and their QB was average.

His high school offense was more of a power running offense than anything. I think Brassell could be pretty dangerous on reverses and things like that. If I were Dan, I would experiment with Brassell at both slot and X/Y WR and see what happens.

Also, as far as CB- I think Justin Cox is going to be very good for us there in the future. We'll have plenty to choose from with Love, Hughes, and Whitehead.

have a better chance of coming in and contributing right away than a QB. QB requires so much more and there is a lot more pressure associated with it than WR.

You may be right- he may struggle to adjust to the college game, though. But he certainly has the raw talent to come in right away and succeed, and he will be playing a position that we need immediate help at.

Personally, I don't expect ANY QB to be able to come in right away and be able to help us until their RS sophomore year. Not saying that it will never ever happen, but QB is a position that usually requires more time to develop than some of the others.

I watched Cox in person Saturday and I was very impressed with his speed. He was faster than the Ol Brook players and he didn't even look like he was trying and when he did turn it on he was a lot faster. I could see him as a kick/punt returner.

the guy said he had a source that was telling him Mullen had accepted the job in 2009, but Mullen had to prove he could recruit, be a head coach etc for another year. This is a done deal and Mullen has already agreed to be the next head coach at fla. Said he would reveal his source once it came true. But he also said that it was rumor and it may be complete BS.

ETA: Here is the column/post...

Editor's Note: This story is based on an unsubstantiated rumor and anonymous sources. While many sources have speculated that Dan Mullen is the likely replacement for Urban Meyer (with a Tampa radio station claiming Mullen's been offered the job), no official announcement has been made by Mullen or the University of Florida as of this time.

Before I say anything else, read the following CAREFULLY.

VERY CAREFULLY.

THIS IS JUST A RUMOR- IT HAS NOT YET BEEN PROVEN.

It's not fair to Coach Mullen, Jeremy Foley or anybody affiliated with either Florida or Mississippi State if I just come out and make it sound official, because it's not.

Do NOT quote me, because I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE, but from what I just heard, Dan Mullen has taken the head coaching job at Florida for 2011.

Actually, he basically took in on New Year's Eve, 2009.

Sorry guys: I can't say who gave me this info until it becomes official.

I will tell you this, though: It was somebody affiliated with Florida. My grandfather, who I'm not sure would want me to pass on this information, was childhood friends with Stephen O'Connell. If you know me personally, and I trust you not to repeat it, send me a text or Facebook message and I'll tell you his name and how they got to know each other. Bottom line- they became very good friends, and I know stuff that I probably shouldn't.

Sorry bro, I think you might be done at UF
Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images Here's the whole story, of what I heard (AGAIN- THIS IS JUST A RUMOR- NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVEN YET!!!)

The day after Meyer quit, he was talked into returning- for one more year. Just to hold it together until Florida could find a decent replacement. But that was BS. Florida knew exactly who they wanted- Mullen. Publicly, Mullen was listed as a viable candidate until Meyer resumed his position as head coach for UF. Privately, Foley, but mostly the boosters, wanted to see Mullen take the next step in coaching- Year 2, perhaps the most important in all of coaching: recruit for a year, and coach those guys, see how he can maintain success, etc.

So Meyer agreed to stay for another year, and Gator boosters, without Mullen or even Meyer's knowledge, kept a very close eye on Mullen. Technically, Meyer did know that UF was looking hard at Mullen, but not the extent that it was actually happening. He basically knew nothing more than you or me: UF likes him, he ran the offense in the championship years, he made Tebow/Harvin/Cornelius Ingram/Bubba Caldwell, etc. who they were. But he didn't know they were after him like a hawk.

What Mullen did on New Year's eve of 2009 was logical: he accepted the terms given to him by boosters (well, Foley too) and it would go into effect in 2011- assuming his program at Mississippi State continued to rise, but didn't say a word.

The main issue that I could not wring out of my gold mine of a source is when he'll accept the job. I asked him if he would ditch the Bulldogs before the Gator Bowl, and join Florida on the sidelines in the Outback Bowl, where he could take look at Florida's "offense" first hand. He said he did not know yet, and when I kept pressing him, he eventually got pissed and when he said, "I really don't know and I'm not saying another word about it!!!" I knew it was time to stop. I'd pressed my luck enough for one day anyway.

What's next, aka Jordan Reed
Sam Greenwood/Getty Images If this is true, then Mullen's comments that he has "no interest" and he has had "no contact" are simply common defenses. How would that look if he pulled a Brian Kelly and just walked away before the bowl game? He's too decent of a person to do it.

However.

This.

Could.

All.

Be.

Complete.

BS.

My source could be just be playing with me. Or he could have misheard something and be dead wrong. But he hasn't ever messed with me like this in the past. And he's usually pretty damned careful to say only facts. He carries no opinion.

And you guys have my word that I will unveil my source if this all is true.

Remember though: IT'S STILL JUST A RUMOR!!!

"he'll immediately be our best deep threat", is a bit asinine.

There are always "can't miss guys" out of high school that don't do ****.

Antonio "Moss" Hargrove comes to mine immediately as a receiver.

Derek Pegues - played D. And before someone spouts off about how Croom wasted him on D think about this. Thats where he was best. He was bow legged as **** which doesn't generally transition good to route running. Wasn't big enough to play running back. He did have good hips which translates to..........Guess what..........DB.
He played QB in high school b/c he was the most athletic guy on the field.

but there are also guys like Chad Bumphis that do come in and make an impact as freshmen. Same for Anthony Dixon. I don't think that saying Brassell is our best deep threat is that asinine in this case just because our best guy right now is- maybe Arceto? That's the only guy he has to be better than. For the record, I'm calling Marcus Green a TE, although the reality is when he is healthy, he is probably our best deep threat next year. It is wait and see though.

I think most people wanted to see Pegues at Wildcat more than anything on offense. I think if we had been able to get him a couple of touches a game, they would have been happy. I couldn't see Pegues as a WR or RB either. He was projected as a DB out of high school, if I recall. It really wouldn't have killed Croom to do that a time or two a game because Pegues could make plays with the ball in his hands.

you're either a dubass or very naive. Of course he doesn't have any "plans" today. But his "plans" could change tomorrow. "I'm not going to Florida. Period." would be a definitive statement.

I'm not going anywhere. VS I have no plans on going anywhere. Pretty close to me.

The point is he could make either statement and easily leave.

Not leaving period is more definitive. Signing a contract is most definitive. no plans to leave is least definitive.

Analyze.

To me, if he leaves, he will need a police escort after reading this. I am ecstatic he is staying.
He hasn't had any contact with other schools and he doesn't have any plans currently on leaving. I was getting more optimistic, but that sounds like he's waiting for offers. My only hope now is that he's far enough down UF's list that he won't get the nod. Or that he's being just coy enough to keep his leverage in negotiations with MSU.

But mainly, my hope is that he's far down UF's list, seeing as he's a scientologist and all. I'm just hoping that the good people of UF haven't been so corrupted that they would take a scientologist as a head coach.

is that as usual, Mississippi is behind the times on offensive football. It's really hard for a WR or QB from the state of Mississippi to make an impact as a true Freshman because of the offenses they grow up in.

Micheal Carr- athletic enough to be on the field in the SEC even as Freshman- but his football IQ is probably no better than my 8 yr old daughter (altho hers is pretty good)...I can assure the offense they ran at West Point was extremely simplistic. And that shows in his transition to getting on the field in college.

I havent talked to Pogue in 4 years, but I am 95% sure what he is doing at USP is fairly simplistic as well. None of his WR's are reading the safety to adjust their routes on any particular play- that I assure you.

So while some of these guys athletically may be able to help- getting them on the field to play SEC football usually takes awhile. Counting on any of our true freshman to make an impact is iffy at best- especially at WR

My nephew has a football class with him and Carr did less than stellar on a Wide Receiver test (he did pass).
