Murphy program in decline. Will continue to decline until the consolidation in 2025 or so.

After the consolidation who knows. Could be another smoky mountain or they could be a power.

Campana as head coach and Nelson as AD at the new school would be my vote.

I think in the sense Murphys defense seemed to be uncharacteristically bad(or maybe they really are that down???), against an Adams less Robbinsville team.
I don’t think you can lose a HOF coach with 9 titles that was there for decades and a long time DC and not see a drop off. Just virtually impossible imo. As far as the game - who knows🤷🏻‍♂️ Swain by 1

I heard the county lost the 4 million dollar lawsuit. Will this not affect the consolidation?

Come on now dude. That’s disrespectful. While I do think Greygod was real quick to jump the gun on things in another thread, him nor his son should be called out on a forum site like you just did. Come on dude. Be better than that.

That’s what I thought. At least delayed for a couple years or more. County doesn’t have enough money to build the school after losing the lawsuit.
From articles I've read the $4.5 million lawsuit lost isn't their only problem looks like serval more lawsuits down the road one commissioner said he was afraid of as much as $50 million worth of lawsuits he thought it may be cheaper just to settle with the rest of them plus their liability insurer is suing the county that they shouldn't have to pay because they don't cover illegal actions.
I hate it's happening to them ,I hope they can still do it.

Well, whatever you may think of 30 from Murphy is your business. What I do know is he took his oath of enlistment on Monday for active duty United States Army. While he may have problems maybe he’s just a 17 year old kid who has been through some stuff and is trying to figure it all out. I think those comments are unfair. Also, you should know that the only penalty he got in the game was the offsides. I also thought the personal foul was on him but it was actually called on 5. But maybe cut all these boys some slack. They are high schoolers. I’d hate to have some of my worst moments talked about on a discussion forums by people I didn’t know.

That’s just ludicrous. Campana hasn’t coached in 10 years. Watson has coached for 20 years and been there for 5 state championships as Gentry’s Offensive Coordinator and right hand man. Ask Campana, he will tell you Watson knows more about football than anyone he knows. It’s amazing to me how fans want to criticize when Waston had no time to find coaches. Gentry was very lucky in having several talented coaches. The problem is Gentry didn’t teach at school, Hincke and Thompson did neither. There’s no teaching positions for coaches. It’s hard to find Nelsons and Gaithers just walking around wanting to coach high school football. Murphy fans are spoiled and need to get realistic.

When ones opinion is labeled "ludicrous", it puts things into perspective as to why we are in the shape we're in now. I never said one negative word about Joseph. I don't have anything against him at all. Having my own opinion is as "realistic" as it gets.

Watson is going to be fine. The Curtis brothers are going to be fine. Kernea is going to be fine. Laney is going to be fine. It takes time. Murphy expects to win. I get that completely. You do not recover from a massive coaching change like the one MHS went through over night. Coaching takes building relationships with your players. Walsh at Rville is one of the best at that. JWat is a brilliant football mind. If you spent more that 5 minutes around him you would know that he eat, sleeps, and breathes football. He is learning how to be a head coach this year. The Murphy faithful needs to have some patience. Easier said than done.

I definitely agree with some of the things you said, I've said some of them myself. You're right Watson is a good football coach and he was put in a tough spot with the timing of Gentry's announcement, he was left with little time to assemble a staff or implement things in his image. With that said man you lost me on that last particular statement, expecting something approaching a competent defense for example is neither "spoiled" or "unrealistic", especially with the amount of returnees this team had from a title team in the spring.

Watson has a lot of young coaches on staff that have a bright future with the right nourishing but its clear as day that he needs another good experienced (most likely defensively minded) coaching hand on his staff and I hope that he can find that when the season ends. I know there aren't a ton of teaching positions available to bring in assistants, probably no more than 1 or 2 assistant tops, but there's no way anyone could watch the team this season and not expect addition on that front this offseason.

Thank you. No one would have believed me had I said it. He had no penalties til the offside.

The statement spoiled comes from the fact that when we don’t win every game, there’s blame thrown out there immediately. I guarantee Watson would love to have the addition of an experienced Defensive Coach. However, I don’t think people realize that this isn’t college football and you can’t just go out there and recruit your own staff. There’s a lot of factors like teaching positions that come into play. You’re not going to walk down the hall at MHS and find a Coach Nelson or a Coach Gaither. Coach Gentry was very lucky with the staff he had. My point is there’s got to be some adjustment time and people need to realize that.
