If true, that's a good 'un. I'm pretty sure they interviewed upwards of 50 people for that job.

He fits in the the Auburn culture a little better than a Gary Patterson would. Auburn thrives on strong defense and power running, and I think Muschamp will be the kind of coach that gives that to them.

You can't understand how much he and the AD hate each other. Would you, if you were Muschamp, leave a job paying 900,000 for one paying maybe what, 2 mil?, for a situation where you DESPISE your boss and a wormy banker in Montgomery controls your future? If he is patient at UT he will have that job within five years and make at least 3 mil a year, more than making up for what he would lose if he stayed there now.

That being said, the presser will probably be today and I will look as stupid as Coach34 and SadDawg proclaiming something from their sources.

to the President (if it actually is Muschamp), not the AD. Said that's what Saban does. Don't know if that's true though.

Muschamp isn't going anywhere (except to his UT office this morning)

Friday, December 12, 2008, 08:31 AM

Under the speculative headline "Muschamp most likely to Auburn," a TV station's report out of Pensacola, Fla., caused a stir overnight. The station says that unidentified sources have said that Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will be named Auburn's head coach today. The report says that a fellow local Fox station in New Orleans is reporting the same thing.

Funny thing, though. Muschamp is in Austin today, and we know of at least one appointment that he has in his UT office this morning. We spoke to someone close to Muschamp this morning, and he said there is no truth to the Auburn report. In fact, he described Muschamp as angry about it and said the coach has been working the phones to talk with Longhorn recruits to assure them that he's staying put at Texas, where he has been promised the head coaching job whenever Mack Brown decides to step down.
