Crazy. I wonder when they will wake up and realize there is a coach that won 9 games every year he coached.

He didn't work out at Florida at all. Even if he's just going there to put his resume in the resume box, why should the Gamecocks administration think he will be successful at another SEC East program?

It does seem crazy he would be considered. He was in a much better situation in Florida and failed. I don't see how that is worth giving him a second chance one year removed.

The guy can recruit and coach D and IF he gets the right OC and lets him do his job, he might be successful thjs time. At least he knows how to run a program.

The NFL is different. Coaches who are fired at one job get hired at another all the time and it's not that unusual to see them be successful. I can't think of a single college coach who has got fired from one job and been successful at another.

I think Bill O'Brien would be a worthy interview here - players already there are suited to run his style of offense.

Wait a minute. It might be time to give Riley an extension so he's not tempted to leave.

After all, Lou Holtz was 62 and Steve Spurrier was 60 when first hired as the Gamecock coach.

Yep. He failed a bit at Florida, but he can learn from his mistakes. The guy can definitely recruit and was, to your point, and offense away from being damn good.
