At least that's the BIG rumor down here in Columbia. Supposedly to be announced early next week. He wants to bring on Former Gamecock Marcus Lattimore as a coach, too.

I know that there's another thread on it but I thought this new info warranted another thread. Thoughts?

USC jr must not be a very attractive job.

Compared to the others that are open, probably not. However, they've positioned themselves well and I would've thought could get a much better coach. Had it have been any other year, I think they would've gotten a much better candidate

UPDATE: A lot of activity happening at Williams-Brice Stadium. USC is supposedly getting a press conference together to announce Muschamp today.

What an honorable guy, chasing this job & assembling a staff while getting paid to not recruit by Auburn

I wish him nothing but the best. Whoever takes that job will have to live in the shadows of Clemson and Dabo Swinney.

(wasnt a threat)....He is 4-0 against UK at has time in Fla.... and not a threat wow.

I think the program UF was the threat, not the coach of them at that time. His teams slid from year to year. Took a new hire to get Florida back to performing. I think he meant a threat in the SEC, hell, Vandy is a threat to us now a day.

More like we are a threat to Vandy's rise to 5th or 6th in the SEC East.

I am not a Will fan, the guy couldn't win big in Fla. On the other hand, have you ever worked for a company and looked for another job? Nearly all coaches are drawing a paycheck from some university when they look for and get another job

Muschamp may not been as much of a done deal as some have implied, they're still interviewing apparently. Most recent was Willie Taggert on Friday.

Yep, this is what I meant. Currently any SEC school on our schedule is a threat.

This was a courtesy PC interview after the church killings in SC. Taggart is not going to get it over Rich Rod, Schiano, Riley, Muschamp unless the AD thinks it's time for a minority hire since I don't believe they've had one. Taggart is a good builder but has a career 30-42 record. Their fans will go berserk if it happens.

I think folks are being a bit quick to poo poo Muschamp off...

He's an ace recruiter, especially on the defensive side...look at the kids he helped recruit at LSU, Auburn (first time around) his units at his those places as Coordinator were dominant...even at florida when things were tough he was still able to haul in top 10 classes and build top 10 defenses...

if he can find a top shelf offensive guy...look out...he could at least get SC back to competitive and stable...
