Looks like Muschamp hired Kurt Roper to be offensive coordinator at USC. Roper had good success at Duke before the crash at Florida.

Roper had little to do with Duke's success, Cutcliff was responsible for their success and anyone of us posting here could have done as much. That hire doesn't concern me, but at least he has been able to make a hire, a surprising one but he made one.

Roper has spent more than 10 years as an offensive coordinator under Cutcliff. Probably learned most everything he knows about coaching from Cutcliff. It will be interesting to see if he can replicate Duke's offense at USC. I don't think the Gamecocks will be a consistent threat to Georgia in the SEC East.

I don't think that was a very smart hire. Muschamp failed miserably at Florida, arguably worse than zook. South Carolina is a job that has a lot more obstacles. Not only are they at the under belly of the SEC east but Clemson owns them. And I don't see dabo leaving anytime soon until bama is in need of a coach.

Clemson owns us???????? Uhhh........we're 5-2 vs Clemsux in the past 7 years. They beat us by 5 this year.......they are on an uptick for sure, but it will be temporary. CU is like Auburn when they had Newton.....take Watson off of Clemson, and they are an 8 win team at best.

They mucked this hire up. They were the first team to be able to start looking for coach and had a lot of time.
They should have done a better job, this guy pretty much built that offense you saw yesterday with Fla. but built the defense. Thank goodness for UK, Rich Rod or Herman, or Fuentes anybody would be better.
IMO

Herman was the only one offered out of the 3 you mentioned. Smart was offered but his agent went to UGA and inquired if Richt was going to be let go......if not, Smart was taking the SC job. Low and behold 5 days later Richt "resigned." I don't blame him, he went to UGA and has a fertile recruiting ground in GA. Rich Rod pursued SC cause he makes 1.4 mil at Arizona, and knew the SC job would be 3 mil at the least. Our AD and President came out and said Rodriguez was never offered anything. He's a liar .......but ask WVU fans about him.

Yes, I know he spent 10 years with Cutcliff, Duke was 10-4 the last year he was there and 9-4 without him. UF was 4-8 before he got there and 7-6 with him. UF improved, but started a different qb which helped them and had more talent than USC will ever likely have. That combination doesn't concern me as much as it would if say Cutcliff, Herman or Fuente took over. I was afraid we were going to hire Muschamp as our DC, likely would have if he hadn't landed at USC.

Brother keep on believing as Journey once sung. Will Muscamp is the best coach I have seen or heard of at this level. I mean who can go to Fla and turn that program into Vanderbilt, congrats.

Will Muscamp hire is still hope for us, I mean this guy has no clue.

I don't believe any of your time frame on the AD hiring whoever. UGA all knew AD was firing Richt after Fla. game, think this was October. Just hard truth is not a great job, it is going to be on the lower pecking order of SEC again real soon. It is already seen by candidates as lower tier job. Spurrier was great hope.
They are hovering around Mizzou, UK, Miss. St. Vanderbilt, S. Carolina.

I love the old adage of S. Carolina. They have the entitlement of Alabama but the trophy case of Vanderbilt.

Your timeframe on Richt being fired is wrong. Richt's faith was sealed at the UF game this year, not that we lost, but how we lost. A bye week, started a different qb who's best skill is running the read option and we run it 1 time the entire game while he throws 4 ints. All the while looking like we took 2 weeks off resting for the game. We won the last 4, so why decide to fire him then? Kirby Smart was approached the Sunday after the UF game and asked if he was interested, the job was his then. He was never going to USC because he knew Richt was gone and he was the next UGA coach. Of course Sexton led USC on, kept them in the picture, its what agents do, but Kirby had no intentions of taking the USC job. Time will tell if we made a good hire or not, but he wasn't just our number 1 target, he was the only target and it was done a month before the season ended. If we had beaten Bama, UF and UT, Kirby would either be USC's new coach or still at Bama because Richt wouldn't have been fired.

Comical........so Muschamp turned UF into Vandy? He was coach of the year in 2012 and let go in 2014. He had about 23 injuries on his team that equated into bad offenses (including not having the right O coordinator). Maybe he forgot how to coach in 24 months. Spurrier had us ranked #4 in the nation in the final poll as of 2014 (2013 season). Did he forget how to coach? He got apathetic. Muschamp didn't have that same apathy at UF, he had a snowball of issues.

I see threads predicting SC as in the "sure win" column next year like WKU or someone. Muschamp's recruiting and his defenses were lights out during his tenure at UF and every where he's been. So he made mistakes on the offensive side, so if he hasn't learned, he may have the same fate. But make no mistake, even though I hated UF while him, Spurrier, Myer and even Zook were there (yes, I hate UF), I was thankful we played them at the end of the year cause I watched their players fall like dominoes with injuries the year he was let go.

Let me ask you this as a serious question......If SC the past two years had even a "below average" defense instead of the worst I've seen in ours (or anyone else's) history, do you think UK would have won the games? I was at both of them, and it was apparent if our D was only 5% better than it was, we win going away. I will be shocked, and we would deserve our same record, if Muschamp doesn't improve our defense. We'll see how it plays out.

If we reach the lower pecking order (I think we hit it this year by the way), then that will put us with you guys....oh wait?
