I played music a long time in Lexington. Lots of incredible music out of Lexington over the years.

Here’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever had the privilege to know who passed away from cancer two years ago. His name was Robby Cosenza and he played drums in my band but played with just about everyone in Lexington over the years. For old timers he even toured with Paul K when he was in high school. Just had the second annual tribute show to him at the Burl last weekend which is now a yearly fundraiser for the Tates Creek music deportment which is where he went to school. Here’s some of his solo stuff under the name Fanged Robot. He plays drums and guitars and other instruments on this and wrote all the songs for Fanged Robot.

Here’s a tune from his double album that was released after he passed away:

Here’s another band he was in called Scourge of the Sea that also recorded an album right before he passed away but don’t think they’re going to release it now. This is from their first album back in early 2000’s:

And here’s a video for a song I wrote with my band the Apparitions. Robby played drums on this one. This song charted top 30 on the CMJ (college radio) singles chart and the album charted top 40. The album is called As This Is Futuristic and came out in 2005 or so if you want to search out some other tunes:

I saw him play NUMEROUS times around town in various configuratioins at Al's Bar, The Green Lantern, The Dame, Cosmic Charlie's, Buster's, etc ... great musician and a really good guy. Yes, he is missed ... quite a lot.

Marty Stuart fell on ice in Nashville last week and had to cancel a bunch of shows, including several with Molly Tuttle.
He is scheduled to return to the stage with his band, The Fabulous Superlatives, at the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington on March 19, 2026.
This is a great place to see this incredibly-talented band and there are very good seats still available.

If you like HONEST country music by an honest Kentuckian from Monkey's Eyebrow, you might check out Kelsey Waldon and her fine band at:
Zanzabar 02/20/26
The Burl 02/28/26

I use to go through Monkeys Eyebrow, fishing down in Ballard county refuge. Brings back some great memories as a kid. Lots of snakes in those lakes on that refuge. Trees were full of squirrels, and the Racoons would steal you blind in that country.

If you go to the show ... talk with Kelsey and tell her your stories ... she's cool and will really dig them. She's a BIGTIME Wildcat fan, too, btw.

Eclectic as usual and mostly not my style. I prefer singer-songwriters. It’s been a good bit since I’ve heard something new that I like, and I spend a good deal of time looking.

I’ve been a fan of Angus Stone for years, kind of like a modern day Neil Young.

Still blown away by this band, The Cold Stares. Singer/guitarist Chris Tapp and drummer Brian Mullins, both from Madisonville KY, started as a power duo about 12 years ago. They have since added a full time bass player and perform as a power trio. They currently have 8 albums out, and each one is awesome. A ninth album is due on May 1st and I plan to buy it same day.

One of my favorite bands is Megadeth, hence my handle name. They’re retiring after 40+ years in the game.

They released their final album in late January and Dave Mustaine finally got that No. 1 record he’d been chasing his whole career.

Here’s one of their all time classics along with a new track for the most recent album.

I'm assuming there's some Sturgill fans on this board:
I'm a huge fan, going back to seeing Sunday Valley as a four-piece opening band for many shows at The Dame. See this from 2004 ...
Sturgill understands how to make music that perhaps is best when heard live !!

New solo album from Rival Sons frontman Jay Buchanan dropped last week. Discovered it today and highly recommend.

Just an observation but man, there are a lot of people on here who have never heard music the way it was meant to be.
