The Cowboys will NEVER contend for a championship. It wouldn't matter if the Cowboys had the first 20 picks of the draft, 'ol Jerruh would just draft someone he could sign cheap and continue to throw money at Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.
Seriously, the Cowboys desperately needed Defensive help. There was a top Safety still on the board. Naturally, Jerruh picks an Offensive lineman. But none of this really matters....it's the Culture that Jerruh has created around the Cowboys-
-There's no fear among the players. In the NFL, the biggest emotion among 98% of the players is fear- fear that if you slow down a step, don't make a quick read and reaction, don't make a play they're supposed to, don't work out that much harder in the weight room, don't run that extra wind sprint or stadium, you'll be cut and Living The Life In The League will be over. At Valley Ranch, there's NO pressure like that. All the players know that if a coach fusses at them or is mean to them, they can go to Jerruh and get a back-rub....after all, Jerruh's the GM and he picked you and Jerruh CAN'T be wrong. This also explains why there's so many injuries every year for the Cowboys- why work hard and get your body prepared for the NFL grind, when you can jump on the Crackwagon at Valley Ranch and have a good time?
-There's no control by the coaches. Jason Garrett may or may not be a good NFL Head Coach....the book's STILL out on him. That's because he has NO control over selecting player personnel or even what coaches to hire. Your average big-time College or NFL Head Coach has the pick of whoever he wants working under him....not Garrett. He's more like the High School Head Coach who has to take the coaching staff given to him by the Principal. He's told who to hire, he's told who's going to call plays, who's going to control the Practice Week and Game Day routine, etc. Two years ago, Rob Ryan was the Defensive Coordinator- the bulk of the defense got injured (not working hard in the NFL will get you injured), the defense sucked, and Ryan was fired. Ryan goes to the Saints and they have a Top-5 defense. In walks retreads Monte Kiffin and Rob Marinelli- they proceed to have the 31st ranked defense in the League and worst defense in Cowboy history.
-The Local Sports Media makes Genespage seem like Sixpack circa 2003. The main vibe coming from the local media is "How many times can I kiss the Jones family's butt?" and managing the disappointment. 105.3 The Fan is the Official Cowboys Station and I can understand them. However, ESPN 103.3 and 1310 The Ticket are NOT affiliated with the Cowboys and I would expect some more hard-hitting reporting....no dice. They keep talking around the periphery of the problem (Romo's not good, Garret sucks as a coach, etc.), but will NOT say the real problem- Jerruh is an Drunken, stupid, Idiotic, Inbred Unibrowed Arkansas Hillbilly <17>tard, and that his son Stephen lacks his father's intelligence and common sense.
