Both teams are 6 and 4 at best. Salem put 49 on. vista two weeks ago. Forest still young. Shootout with little defense vista 40 forest 35
I think JF will win this game at home. This game is really big for them and Christmas will have them ready. JF 28 MV 14
Next 2 weeks you are going to see what kind of team magna Vista is.....JF and Reidsville are going to be tough tests...if they can pull out wins they don't have anyone else on schedule until they get to GW. Magna Vista has a relatively easy schedule, they are guaranteed to be no worse then 7-3. Seminole district is the SEC of Virginia, so it is a whole lot more important for JF to win this game to gain momentum going into district play.
If MV goes up to JF with the mind set of doing there jobs instead of all the excessive jawing and talking, then they should be ok. I am pretty sure that the warrior coaching staff will address all those penalties and after play activities from this past Friday nights contest. Its not how you start its how you finish and I think that MV is far better than a "6-4" record IMO, they just have to play there type of football. Hopefully MV will show up ready to play because JF will not be an easy task by far. Good luck to both team and safe travels to all the fans during there travels.
Pioneer, I generally enjoy your post and find them insightful, but I am a bit confused about your statement "the Seminole District is the SEC of Virginia". What does that mean exactly? Are you saying the Seminole is the best, toughest, or has the most parity? Just curious.
Yes, Seminole district is the best district in the state of Virginia from top to bottom . If anyone can tell me another district better, I would love to hear it.
I agree Pioneer, Seminole is toughest in the state. No other district even comes close.
Okay, fair enough. I would agree the Seminole collectively is a vey competitive group and has earned a sound reputation; however, I would think the River Ridge with similar class (3 and 4) teams could make a strong argument. They did in fact have two state champions last season and strengthened when Carroll vacated the district.
Another District to evaluate is the Capital District from Richmond (Atlee, Armstrong, Hanover, Henrico, Highland Springs, Lee Davis, Varina and Patrick Henry-Ashland). Yes, they have teams of higher classes (3, 4, and 5) and it would be unfair to assume what would happen if the Seminole and Capital met up on the field but one could very easily say they could be considered the best overall district in Virginia.
I am sure the 5a and 6a Districts in NOVA and VA Beach could say the same thing. Interesting discussion anyway just no way to determine it. I will say that I respect your opinion and fondness for football in your area. Heck, I think the Central District (Petersburg, Hopewell, Thomas Dale, Matoaca, Prince George, Meadowbrook and Colonial Heights) is good, but due to a few bottom feeders we are not anywhere close to the Capital, just short of the River Ridge and about even with the Seminole.

The thing that probably separates the Seminole, is the fact that there are no "cupcakes" in Seminole. It is strong from top to bottom.
I would generally agree with you, Hampton Roads 6, but isn't Rustburg and Liberty questionable this year?
I am not trying to troll or start and argument I just think its a bit far reaching to say the Seminole is the best in the State. Are they one of the top two districts regarding teams in the lower divisions? Absolutely!
I am originally from the Roanoke Valley, so I am very well aware of the product the Lynchburg area teams put on the field and have total respect for each and every team in the Seminole. The good thing is I have learned to be open minded and realize there is good football everywhere and in every class/division.
I'll chime in since I grew up in Rustburg among the Seminole District and now live in River Ridge territory. I think top to bottom the Seminole is generally the best district in the state for 3,4A size football. The RRD doesn't usually have a fight for the top like the Seminole does, primarily due to Salem's dominance of the district. Christiansburg had a 2 year run back in '10 & '11, & Pulaski used to compete for the district. The Seminole has had more competition for the top spot and every team in the district has won a football title. I don't know of many districts that can make that claim.
Rustburg and Liberty are "down" a little, but they're still a tough opponent.
good post Salem Mike. In the Roanoke area, it's mostly Salem and everyone else, though Blacksburg did win state championship last year, after going 5-5 in regular season.
Who's in the rrd? I thought I seen a Amherst flag at salem stadium at mv game, thought they was Seminole. Does Salem put up flags of the teams they're playing that year?

Salem puts a flag up of each of their regular season opponents. RRD consists of Salem, Blacksburg, Patrick Henry, Pulaski, Cave Spring, Hidden Valley, and Christiansburg.
I know top to bottom it's not as good as the bigger districts but if you look at smaller schools, the Dogwood has had its share of dominance over the past decade plus with a state finalist, I believe, 9 out of the past ten years and that is all since Brad Bradley's run at William Campbell. 2012 was the Dogwood's lone year in a decade with no state finalist. If you want to go back even further the Dogwood has had atleast a state quarterfinalist every year for the past 16 seasons. I know Seminole and other bigger districts are obviously better top to bottom, as Dogwood teams have rotated the cellar dweller title for a while (Altavista dropped out of Dogwood for a bit, Gretna was 0-44 at one point, Dan River wasn't very good prior to Edmunds' arrival, and WC had some lean years or two following the Bradley era, and heck Appomattox saw their class of 2007 graduate with 7 wins in their entire 4 year careers, conversely their senior class of 2017 went out with 43...then add in Chatham and Nelson who have had high points, CHS being a state quarterfinalist in 2005, and Nelson having much more competitive seasons in the first decade of the 2000's to go with a usual penchant to rank them in the cellar). Like I said I know those other districts are better but I was just interested if one of the bigger districts had a rich history of state finalists etc like the Dogwood has. I think last year was one of those rare years the Dogwood champ could of won the Seminole, but I think that was more of just having a special group in the silver and blue for Appomattox than any long term indicators for the Dogwood vs Seminole
You are probably correct about Appomattox winning Seminole last year but they would not have the 32+ game winning streak. Someone would have knocked them off in the Seminole.
I know the last two years for Appomattox have been a special group. To say they owned the Seminole might be strong but,... they were 6-0 verse Seminole schools. The only team that might have been get them a "1" might have been the JF team in 15. Last year they went 29-21 verse Heritage BUT it was 22-0 at the half and we played A LOT of 2nd and 3rd stringers in the second half due to injuries and cramps. Our two way players were hurting bad that hot humid night! We had guys coming out every series for cramps and with our 2's and 3's trying to plug holes we gave up some plays.
Verse the Seminole in 15 they scored 100-27 and in 16 they scored 81-39 in those games. I not sure about 15 but in 16 all three of the teams out of the Seminole went at least to the second round of the playoffs in 3A and 4A with Rustburg going deeper.
Those teams pretty much destroyed opponents throughout the playoffs other than a VERY GOOD Richlands team in 15. Now, the 1st round may not be a great indicator but when you win the last four games by big margins .....

@Bo Bob in that time, just curious, I know the Richlands game in '15 ranks up there, along with the Dan River game in '16 but how many opponents have really come close to ending the streak? Didn't the streak start with an overtime rivalry clash in Buckingham?

I don't remember if it was OT or not in Buckingham but that is were it started.

14-7 Buckingham (who lost a close game to Richlands the week before our OT game with Richlands
14-7 Rustburg
then Playoffs the closest it got was
28-7 Dan River
27-21 OT Richlands
IN 16
16-14 DR (which was played in hurricane which negated our speed and played into their power game) I think we would have beaten them by 3 scores on dry field.
Playoffs.
45-14 was our closest game against Giles
To go back to what I said about Dan River.
Union beat DR on a last drive bomb in the last minute.
After we beat Union the next week 43-0, Unions' coach even asked our coach, "How the heck did you guys only beat Dan River by 2????".
P.S. We have no streak? We are 0-0 heading into tonight vs Rustburg.
I recall several years that Dogwood had teams that should have won it all. Gretna several times, Chatham in 2005, Dan River a couple of times.
The only time i can find the JV score is when MV wins.. i never see it if they lose.. So im assuming JF won. I wish they would post it either way.
I have to agree with bleeding Navy on this one. The Seminole has been a very good district but to say they are the best, especially over the last several years, is just not looking clearly through a lens. Anyhow, we are talking about Staunton River and Magna Vista.. My point made , the Seminole may be on a uptick because of Woody coming back.
I'm a Martinsville Bulldawg!!!!! I was active duty and lived in the Tidewater area for a number of years. I saw a lot of the talent in the 757 from the mid 90s until 2010. Ronald Curry, Marcus Vick, DeAngelo Hall, Tahj Boyd, the Adbi brothers, Darryl Rapp, James Anderson, Marcus Hagans, Amando Curry, JC Coleman, Damon McDaniel, Percy Harvin and many others. There's still plenty of talent in that area.
