Not totally sure of final score, got it from someone else that thought it was final score.

Parkland 50 Atkins 35

That's competive for Atkins. Most they've scored in a good while on anyone.

Is it them or more Parkland being down? Good ?. Don't guess I'll see for 2 more weeks.

I haven't seen either team play, so I can't answer that question.

I just can't see Carver being in the running at the end. I could be wrong, I have been many times.

Me neither; I give them benfit of the doubt due to their speed. Their depth isn't great but no one usually has as many fast kids as they got in their good years. Walkertown I'm not sure about I've never seen them; Atkins wasn't that fast on JV last year (Ground and pound.) I guess it's just respect for rivals on my end lol.

If Forbush can handle their speed it'll be a huge win for them. They got North Wilkes next week and they are pretty fundamentally solid.

Good Win for East; shows they can handle speed. I see it being between them, Elkin, and probably Wilkes Central for that conference. Starmount will do solid though too. Ashe I know nothing about besides the Watauga game.

Forbush is for real this year. 3-0 start. Be intresting to see them vs. Carver and us and West near the end of the year.

It should be between Elkin and Ashe unless Ashe is playing a bunch of players up on varsity. Central would be in the hunt if JoeRay was on JV but he's up as a freshman.

Starmount has a couple decent years on the horizon but it will be a while before we see Starmount of old, if we ever do.

JV Standings time! :)

Appolgies if this is too zoomed out trying to test this out some.

The MVAC has been truely competitive so far this year. East Wilkes is still undefeated for at least another week (the streak's at 25 games since the 2014 JV finale.)

Elkin's having their best JV season in a good while with two close wins over North Surry and Mount Airy and are off a bye week. North Wilkes is also undfeated but have had 2 lower end teams to start the year off they face their first real challenge tonight. Alleghany also has a win however I'm nor sure if they have played a game since then. Kevin do you know anything?

West Wilkes is .500 and Starmount's 1-2 but Starmount has the more impressive win with their close win over West Stokes 2 weeks back.

Ashe and Wilkes Central however I don't know much about. Ashe has only reported one score. They played Alleghany out of conferencce supposidy accoring to their JV Hudl and the clips I've seen but no score. Wilkes Central wise I'm missing their score vs. Watauga last week which I know they lost.

I expect the MVAC to be a competive conference this season on JV. North Wilkes we will get to see what they have tonight. Next week will feature some intresting contests.

It's easy to say this but the Northwest conference certantly has seen better days for sure. It's hard to believe that 5-7 years ago there used to be 4 team races for the conference title; now there's 2 teams that couldn't fill a JV squad; 2 who are trying to find their oats and 2 who are always good.

It looks like there will be another another East and MA showdown for the conference title in November. MA has the better offense but East has the better defense; something will have to give. However East may have an edge due to their schedule getting more games on it. They will play both 4A Ragsdale and Trinity on JV. The Ragsdale game may be a doozy considering their size. Trinity's having their best JV team in a while this year.

South's had a topsy turvy year so far. Besides their close opener vs. West they have had to take some lumps. However I expect the year to get better for them as it goes along. North Stokes however is an enigma; it's hard to say what Sessoms's pure focus is on: mainting the varsity which has low numbers again or allowing JV to play and compete. It's hard to say but maybe they can turn it around tonight as they have Patrick County; who they beat on JV last year. Maybe the goal is to do both.

Ah yes the wild and wacky world of the WPAC. This is probably the oddest season of JV ball I've seen in this conference so far.

Forbush has went from 10+ game losing streak to being undefeated. It's hard to say if it's their talent level being better or if their first two teams were bad. Their next two games will show their talents off as they have a fundamentally solid North Wilkes squad tonight and a speedy Carver team next week. If they pass both of these then they will be the favorite; if not who knows how this conference will go.

West Stokes opened the season off with a close win over South Stokes but have taken their lumps since then. Mount Airy had a good offensive night, and Starmount battled to a late win. However West will probably turn it around in conference play. West hasn't had a down JV season in years.

North Surry's very yoing compared to last season as the sophmores of the 2016 squad are varsity aged now; and the starting QB and WR #1 from the JV squad in '16's on varsity. It's been a tale of growing pains for the 'Hounds but there has been improvement between games. Despite the score they played East Surry very well. They have one more tough test this week before they start conference play next Thursday.

Atkins is also younger this season as they lost a lot of their sophmores from an improved 2016 squad. It's hard to tell what the Camels strength is; granted they have put up 42 points but 80% of that came from their game vs. Parkland. Besides that it's been rough outings for the Camels vs. RJR and Reagan. It's gonna be hard to say which team will be in Toast next week vs. North in the conference opener. Walkertown's in the same situation as well. They gave up 30+ to East Wilkes last week which wasn't expected by many especially after playing Parkland tough. Tonight's game and the conference opener will show to what the Wolfpack has.

Carver meanwhile is hard to figure. Defensively besides giving up 49 last week they have played West Forsyth and Glenn somewhat okay even if their offense is anemic at best. They face that Parkland squad tonight who let Atkins and Walkertown have good nights so who knows what will happen. Next week they got Forbush in a game that could throw the conference in a headspin. It's hard to expect with this team..

Tonight's JV Slate:

Mount Airy 32 at North Surry 34
West Stokes 0 at East Surry 46
South Stokes 0 at Elkin 34
North Stokes at Patrick County
Forbush 14 at North Wilkes 34
Walkertown 6 at Statesville 36
Parkland 16 at Carver 20

Not the biggest lineup in the world as the MVAC is mostly off this week. Some good matchups here potentially.

JV GOW is Forbush and North Wilkes; it will show what both these teams have tonight. Both teams may be X factors in the conference perhaps.

MA faces another county rival in North Surry tonight while West Stokes and East Surry matchup in Pilot. South Stokes makes the good haul to Elkin to face the solid JV squad Elkin has; may be their coming out party perhaps.

Walkertown makes the good haul to face Statesville while Carver will get their first real chance at competing tonight as they face a younger Parkland squad.

Hope everyone has a good night tonight; hope the rain stays away!

Can't get much off MaxPrep as most schools only have 2 or 3 games on their schedule for the whole year. only found the Statesville vs Walkertown score on there.Maybe some will Tweeter their scores later when they get home.

Max Preps needs to re focus..they're kind of lame this year. JV wise especially.

Not defending maxpreps, but I'm pretty sure it is each teams responsibility to load games, rosters and scores. I would venture to say a lot of coaches are not going to do all that for JV since it is not required by the state.

I kinda figured and that is why I said most schools only have 2 or 3 games on their schedule for the whole year. They also let anyone post varsity scores but it is not made offical till the coach or the school varifies the score or someone aproved by the school..Correct me if I am wrong. I know I posted Mount Airy scores one time a few years ago and it was varified hours later or the next day,

I agree with both you guys. JV's need to at least have the scores reported because they play as hard as the big boys do but I understand why coaches don't wanna bother with it. It can be a hastle sometimes.

A lot of schools need to start a Twitter/Facebook for a die hard fan to run and update the scores every week. That'll help a lot with the smaller rural schools.

Can't say really; haven't seen Ragsdale's JV's any. They've faced some really tough schools; this will be the first team they've played with a lower ADM in a long time for JV. They played one team tough but got waxed by Dudley. SW Guilford beat them too.

I think their game with Trinity will be intresting too; it's their best JV team they've had in years there. They beat South Stokes solidly and shutout a 3A school. East's filling Jordan Matthew's spot on the JV schedule because they don't field jv's.

Elkin beat South Stokes according to their twitter but they didn't put a score.

Still haven't heard the Forbush/North Wilkes score yet. Forbush usually reports their scores fast..

What a game this was; total rollercoaster from start to end. Easily one of the most odd yet memorable game I’ve seen in all my years and I’ve seen a lot of them.

It was a tale of two half’s. First was ours, 2nd was theirs. 1st quarter we came out and scored off our first and third possessions while we stopped theirs. 2nd Quarter they got a QB keeper for a TD; we just made a bad read and they took it on. We got a TD near the end of the quarter to make it a comfortable lead. 3rd quarter we started off awesome then went blah. Got a fumble but was 5 yards short. They went on to have a dream drive and had momentum. We couldn’t move it however we stopped them that next time and it started going back and forth. We got 2 TD’s in the 4th by passing it and they couldn’t stop both. They went all passing after halftime mostly and just wore us down but we did what we had to do late to pull it off. They went for 2 all night and only got it once or twice; the last two times decided the game.

MA’s gonna be fine in conference play; they shouldn’t have an issue until they get to East. Their QB has an arm and legs on him. East will have to stop the pass to beat them.

As for us I’m proud of the boys; we’ve grown up a lot in just three games. We had a rough go against Elkin to start but since then we’ve steadily gotten better every week. East was closer than the score indicated; we had really a 7 point game but we threw a late pick that we shouldn’t have. Then last night it came full circle. We still got a ways to go as conference starts up but if we play with this kinda effort the rest of the year I can’t complain.

Next up we got Atkins at home next Thursday.

a lot of points in MA/Hounds game....

Haha yes it was. It got to a point late when it was reaching 9 o'clock and I was thinking "good grief." It just wouldn't stop for either side. It turned into a passing show.

It wasn't as much as the year I graduated; we both combined for 86 points that year. That was Hampton's last year 6 years back.
