My 2 cents

Anyone who read my posts during the worst times of COVID are well aware of my feelings. I was definitely way on the more aggressive side of social distancing / masks / etc. My job pushed me that way. I continue to believe that at the heights of the disease these measures were 100% necessary.

That being said, what happened in Omaha with NC state is asinine. I find myself agreeing with what virtually everyone is posting. I see no reason to restate all of that.

What I want to point out is how stupid is was to let NC state play at all. Let’s assume the testing was a good idea (it wasn’t). With the numbers they had sit out yesterday, there is no way that once they followed through with contact tracing / testing / etc that NC state would have enough players to field a team. If they had won yesterday I suspect tonight’s game would be for the national championship, and we are all well aware of what happened when they lost. They had no plan. They were just testing to say they were doing something. When they needed up with positive testts they had no idea what to do and here we are. I knew this was going to be the outcome the moment I saw how few players they had yesterday.

I'm curious if the NCAA was hoping that NC State would have voluntarily forfeited yesterday's game. I would tend to think this outcome was already a done deal before yesterday's game but because it was so close to game time the NCAA couldn't pull the plug once NC State decided not to cry uncle. The fact that they make this decision at 2 AM makes me think NC State had no shot of advancing if they didn't win yesterday.
