Let me clarify for those of you who think, or know,I'm crazy. First off, I don't EVER cheer against MSU. Never have I or will I do that. Secondly, I'm not saying I don't want us to win the tournament. I would love for us to win the SEC Tournament, as longas the players and staff are able to use it as a teaching tool for next year to improve the quality of our program. Will I cheer for us? Absolutely 100%. Do I hope we can get to the NCAA Tournament? Yes. But I'm afraid that it won't change the current state of our program, and that the current players like Sid will get bigger egos than they currently have and continue to be a distraction. I apologize to those of you who think I hate MSU or root against MSU or want MSU to do bad. I wouldn't ever do that. I just had a point, and my thinking of what might happen. I hope I'm wrong.I hope this team goes as far as it can and it changes the culture of MSU basketball for the future. I just needed to clarify what I said earlier. You can ream me or whatever, but I just wanted to clarify what I meant by what I posted.</p>

so I'm going to root for us and let the chips fall where they may as far as possible changes with our program. But there won't be any real changes to the program unless an eventual Head Coaching change is made (and that won't happen at least this year). Stans has had this program now for almost 13 YEARS. If he was a coach that was adaptable to making positive changes in areas that needed it with his program he would have shown that ability long ago. Don't really see a light bulb clicking on at this point in his career. And its not going to happen no matter what we do or don't do in the SEC tournament this year. "Culture changes" aren't going to happen under the present coaching staff period.

My whole point was basically what you said, I just suck at putting into terms that don't make me sound like an idiot. I'm going to root for us as well. I'm no MSU hater or anything like that. I just don't see winning the tournament being a turning point in the career of Stansbury. I think after 13 years we've seen what Stansbury is capable of, and I don't see that changing. I never meant to say I don't want us to win, just that I don't think winning will change anything. </p>

...but the deal is this. Stans is not going anywhere this year. There were points this season where it would've been possible had the team totally collapsed. But winning on Jack's last night and then following that up by securing a bye in Bud Walton solidified his return. Even if we had finished under .500 and 6th in the West, it would've been 50/50 at best for him leaving due to the fact that he has the money guys on his side.

Since Stans is not going anywhere this year, what's best is for the team to come together and make a run. The thing is, there is nothing wrong with pulling against your team in a game/series of games when you are convinced that it is best for the program to have a coaching change. Many people were pulling against Croom in 2008 and wanting Houston to run up the score in Oxford. It was obvious at that point that the best thing for our program was a coaching change. In 2008, when Polk announced his resignation mid season and there was some ambiguity about whether LT or GB was running the show, I and many others were pulling HARD against those guys because it was conceivable that Polk would succeed in getting Raffo to succeed him if they made a good run and showed improvement. Since I thought that what was best for our baseball program was the failure and destruction of that team so that there would be new blood brought in, that's what I pulled for.

I know that's where you are right now with basketball, and there's nothing wrong with that. I am pretty much there, too. The problem is that nothing is going to happen this year, now, and so there's no use doing anything but hoping your school can redeem themselves in the SEC tourney and play their way into the Dance. I have some small glimmer of hope that getting Ravern and Kodi gone might be good for this team and we could make a strong run next year with a good start. I'm sure I'll be sorely disappointed.
