some Alabama fan came up to me and started telling me that us (MSU of course) being happy that we beat them was stupid because Alabama had a better chance of winning the SEC Championship Game than LSU or whoever for the SEC West.
He was dead serious to.
Probably the most bizarre thing an opposing fan has ever told me, and even more bizarre rationale.
I told him that I didn't care who won the SEC Championship Game.
I also remember my first MSU/Bama game which was 1992. My Dad got tickets for my family and some of his Alabama fan co-workers, and out of courtesey I guess, he got the tickets in the Alabama section. Or maybe he was afraid that his co-worker friend would get his *** kicked in the State section because he was pretty vocal. I don't know. The things that those Bama fans were saying throughout the game were insane. It was stuff like "It's our birth right to win", and "I believe in my team" when State had the momentum, which wasn't so insane as it was annoying because it seemed like after everytime they said that, MSU would screw something up, Bama would come through.
That game sucked because I was one of two or three State fans in the Bama section cheering for State, and it seemed like a road game. That and the fact that State lost because Roy Kramer hit his red button to the official to over turn the Jay Barker fumble to protect Bama.
My Dad got some payback six years later when I was in college at MSU. JJ Johnson had just gone off on them aGAIN this time in Starkville, and on campus some Alabama bookstore I guess was selling Alabama stuff on MSU's campus near the BSU. So, my parents and I are riding around after the game in my Dad's car and we pass the "merchants". My Dad stops the car and sticks his head out the window and starts making fun of them. He was saying stuff like- "Hey, you got any STATE stuff over there- you know the team that whipped your tail today? I don't want any Bama stuff." Which is totally unlike him. My Mom made him move along because she was embarassed.
