My Florida Short List

Here's my short list for Florida. No attention was paid to how realistic the hire is. I'm too lazy to look up buyouts...

1. John Gruden (why not?)
2. Bob Stoops (former UF DC)
3. Chris Petersen (screw the schedule - does more with less than anyone out there)
4. Dan Mullen (obvious reasons)
5. Petrino (Dude can coach - sketchy though)
6. Charlie Strong (good coach, Florida connection, keeps the Reverends at bay)
7. Houston Nutt (just kidding)

I'm not an NFL guy. Not sure of who would be an option from those ranks - other than Gruden.

but would Bob Stoops want to make a "horizontal move?" He has had a lot of success at Oklahoma (a Heisman winner, Natl. Title Apperance, 3 BCS bowl appearances) the last 5 years or so.

No assessment of whether they are realistic hires or not. If I'm Florida, I'm sure I think I can attract anyone that I can afford...

A) his buyout isn't astronomical, and
B) he's feeling some heat by the OU folks for not winning a NC since 2000 and he's becoming frustrated.

I doubt it but he could have had a really good relationship with strong. Strong was there for 3 different head coaches. I know that you can ask why did he never get the job but it is still Florida. He was not there that long before Zook and after Zook they really had to go a different direction. If they were to go after Strong. The first thing that he should do is go pay Gus Malzahn 1m. Malzahn needs to strike while the iron is hot. Hell just for ***** and giggles put Shannon as DC.
