but it's not guaranteed. You never know how guys are gonna handle NYC and the big contracts. I believe Burnett has real "crash and burn" potential. If he goes .500 I'll consider that a win for the Yankees. Cano, Cabrera, and Nady may or may not hit. Their bullpen is probably still a liability. They're in better position than last year on paper but I still could see them missing the playoffs. I don't think Tampa is going anywhere and I know Boston isn't.
I'm expecting Burnett to be the next Carl Pavano. He's made over 30 starts twice in his career. I think he'll be lucky to make 22 or 23 starts. And with all of the innings Sabathia has thrown the last two years, I think he is a major injury waiting to happen.
it's one thing to hit .300 in Pittsburgh when you're 25 games out and nobody really cares. It's another thing entirely when you're hitting in Yankee Stadium and you gotta answer to the press every day and people care TOO much. It's cliche, but the hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. And when you're pressing it's really hard. How will boos affect him? It's just different in New York. Even a guy as talented as A-Rod feels the pressure in NY and as of yet, he hasn't really stepped up to the challenge. He has the numbers but when the pressure has been on, he hasn't come through yet.
baseball since the age of 5 and on the HS, college, and semi-pro level, it doesnt make a 17 where you play for the most part. While NY is tough, hitting behind A-Hole and Tex will be the biggest factor. Expect Nady to have an incredible year
He's a career .280 hitter who has finished above .300 once in eight years and has never had more than 425 at-bats in a season. Clearly, your baseball knowledge is second to none.
Also, while your incredible baseball career lends you a credibility that few on this earth can fathom, the last few years has shown us dozens of players who have torn it up in other cities and failed in New York. Seriously, it seems a person actually has to attempt to be as stupid as you.
and archive this post...Nady will have an awesome year hitting behind those guys...we'll see who the dumbass is come this Fall...and as Blue and Brutius found out, it wont be me...
There's a reason San Diego and Pittsburgh gave up on him and New York got him for peanuts. He'll have a great April, a good May, and then he'll hit .260 with 5 HR the rest of the season. Of course, I only have mounds of statistical data and 3,000 Nady at-bats backing my position, so yeah, I'll probably end up looking like an idiot.
2 of the top 5 hitters in major league baseball will make him a .300 hitter....he will be hitting constantly with men on base and it will pay off...just watch
Because that's who's gonna be behind A-Rod and Tex. It sure as hell won't be Nady, who has never been trusted in his 8-year career to have more than 425 at-bats in a season.
If Matsui is healthy, Nady won't make many appearances higher than 7th in the order.
combined with the Yankees tradition and expectations. Plus, they usually shell out a ton of money for you, and so you want to live up to the contract that you were given to prove that you weren't overpaid.
Just the fact that it took a particularly Croomtastic performance in the Egg Bowl for you to win that bet should be enough to make you want to keep your mouth shut about it. Rodriguez coaching at one of the traditional powers nearly had worse offensive numbers than the worst offensive coaching staff in the history of organized football and one of the most incompetent coaches in SEC history (thanks Orgeron).</p>
You touted Coach Rod's offense and truth be told, it was complete crap. He is lucky to have a job next year it was so bad. If Mike Brown had not fired a gun in the air you would have lost.
You want to throw in Mike Brown- how bout the 4 or 5 transfers Rod had that left the offense? What about Mallet leaving for UPig? Michigan had heavy losses to graduation plus transfers. Rodriguez will get players in there and they will be good on offense.
Croom's craptastic offensive numbers no matter the circumstances. Seriously, we had one of the worst offenses ever for a major conference team the past 5 years. Rodriguez is supposedly an offensive genius. He should have at least been able to dust MSU with me playing QB. Rodriguez has more coaching ability in his pinky finger than Crooms does in his whole body. All it would have taken for you to lose the bet was a pathetic 215 yards against Ole Miss. Fortunately for you we had Croom on cruise control and Nutt out to make a statement so we ended up with numbers that would bring shame to the description of pathetic.
You won, but my goodness, it took a spectacular performance from Croom to put it away.
