My head will explode if Khayat gets to pick his successor.

Surely there is more justice in the world than that. They should have to go throught the same clusterf$#@ we did or the system needs to be dismantled from now on.

In fact, my guess is that he is trying to pick his successor so Trent Lott doesent get a shot at the job.

MSU and Southern Miss alumni should file suit against the college board if this happens. That would be just more BS than most could handle.</p>

racist than me. Having not spoken more than 15 or 20 words to him total, it would be difficult for me to assess completely.

Unfortunately, his inability to accurately gauge his comments at Strom's festschrift will not be forgotten by the media.

He will be a former senator, but an eternal racist.

As I said earlier today, Ole Miss would be well served to let the dust in "Scruggs II" settle before even considering Lott. Naming a Chancellor with any involvement in a judicial bribery scandal would be worse than hiring one that made pseudo-racist comments years ago.

I bet ole Trent is loosing sleep over round two. I mean how convenient is it with the timing of the Lott resignation and the downfall of Scruggs and the two of them being so close. And what would have been Scruggs' best avenue for getting DeLaughter that federal judgeship?

Most Ole Miss people I know wish the college board would go away as well. There is no reason why each university shouldn't have their own board controlling their own issues.

In 1983, but declined after accepting the posistion so he could run for the Senate against Thad Cochran.

PhD is not required. Several politicians have moved on to academia, like David Boren at Oklahoma (former U.S. Senator), and Lamar Alexander at U Tenn (former Governor, who since was elected to the Senate).

He helped Mississippi a LOT until his one stupid comment made us all look bassackwards again. Who hasn't stuck their foot in their mouth before? He did an awful lot for the state.
I realize you're not bashing him, this just seemed the most appropriate place to comment on the situation.

on.

will slap him in the face and punch him in the stomach. (Someone had to say it)

Who cares if he picks his successor? Remember this is the same guy that supported Ed Orgeron for three years.
