Mullen here in year 3, talking about the offense..

I have no doubt Croom was tired of watching it. He should have coached more and watched less.
Thank heavens we swapped Croom for Mullen. We quite possibly went from the worst coach in MSU history to the best coach in MSU history.

“Yeah, you see some good improvement,” Mullen said. “As practice goes
right now, guys get used to the tempo of practice. The receivers’ speeds
are changing from the beginning of practice to the end of practice. I
like it.”

"It was the perfect day for the guys to find out about themselves," he
said. "If we develop that mental toughness, we'll be a good football
team. They've got to learn to deal with adversity. They got tired and
started making mental erros and dropping balls. But we're going to do it
all again tomorrow. It will be another test."
Practicing for the first in shoulder pads, Croom liked the way his team hit. That's not the issue.
"We'll hit people," he said. "That's not a question. We will be physical. I'm more worried about execution."
Practice had been running to about 7:50 each night. But on Friday, it ended at 7:25.
"<span style="font-weight: bold;">I got really, really tired of watching it</span>," Croom said.
