I had no idea about Genespage and its sunshine pumping mobsters when I joined SPS in 2003- had never been on it. I was going thru a bad divorce, and SPS was a good way to talk sports and get my mind off things back in late 2003, early 2004. I had heard stories about Stansbury's lack of discipline, almost getting fired by LT, and lack of S&C and figured it was pretty common knowledge. It was mind-boggling to me that so many people on SPS thought he was this great coach. I mentioned these problems and learned what the mob mentality from Genespage was like here on SPS.

So I just started 17'ing with people for enjoyment. I had no idea people would take it so personally. Just amazed me. And thats how it all got going- I didnt really give two ***** about Stands- had never met the guy, no vendetta...nothing personal going on... but the way people defended him like it was a cult just fascinated me. So thats why I would come up with crazy **** to get you guys going. Then it took on a life of its own. People try to say I hate Stansbury- it's actually the people that followed him so blindly on SPS that I hated- Stansbury was just the catalyst. Hell, the last 3-4 years I've had about 5 guys feeding me stuff to throw out there- I've had very little of my own material lately. I even had a friend try to get me to throw some SWAC coaches at you guys just to see the fallout. It's been a big joke for quite awhile.

I'm glad to see everybody finally come around- even though many of you figured it out many years too late. You cant win big without some type of discipline and kids that know what hard work means. Stansbury not supporting the S&C program helps this ***** mentality that has infiltrated the program grow. Hiring some new assistants isnt going to change it. It all starts at the top. He's not a disciplinarian- that's just not his nature. He cant be something he isnt. That's why he worked so well with Williams- Williams was an *******- and that role that is necessary to a team came easy. Stansbury cant do it- he's just too good of a guy.

Dont blame Keenum or Stricklin- they actually wanted to do the right thing- but some really big boosters tied their hands on this one. One more year. One more Groundhog Day. Stansbury's buddies have got him one last season, and he gets to go out a loser. A stronger SEC + a weak team with Freshman guards = long season. Those of you that go to the games and watch that crap next season enjoy the frustration and pain. Many of us just cant do it anymore.

On to Spring Practice and baseball for me. I'm not wasting anymore energy on this basketball program for awhile

Stansbury has 1 more year? That just 17ing sucks.... Also, it's cool to actually read your opinions on Stansbury. One of the main reasons I've continued to read a lot of your posts because it seemed pretty apparent to me that you were 17ing with a lot of people that took **** a bit too seriously. I don't think you needed to explain yourself because regardless those that disagreed with you will look at this as another act and you trying to save face for when you're not going to be posting any basketball for a whole year.

I willnot beattending a basketball game for the fourth straight year. I will not support a Stansbury-coached team. It is just too embarrassing to watch themplay that way. We can get used to seeing empty seats for every single game for a while. This sucks. After football ends, our entire fanbase will just be waiting for baseball or the next football season. Bball won't even be a factor or worth more than a few discussions. Anytime you have to tell yourself, "let's give him one more year," you are headed for disaster, but we keep saying it when we're right smack dab in the middle of a disaster. Man up, Stricklin. Every year that we keep him is putting our program back two years.

I doubt you attended many games anyway. People on these boards tend to think they are some kind of Icon by spouting crap all the time. You are either an MSU fan or you are not. It is kind of like when a preacher is replaced or leaves, does the congregation all quit? As bad as this season was for expectations, there were some fun moments. That is part of being a fan. There will be more good moments in the future for some of us and we choose to look at the glass being half full instead of half empty. Good luck in getting a season ticket after your absence, if in truth, you really ever bought tickets, they will sell out again next year just like they did this year. Someone will be real happy to get that option.

I graduated from State six years ago and I attend many football and baseball games, so yeahI am a fan. I love basketballbut don't attend basketball games. I have no desire to. I can barely watch themon tvbecause it's so painful. Well, the beginning of the season was. I was apathetic by the middle. I'll go back to a game when our new coach comes. It has nothing to do with a boycott. I have no desire to watch that abortion of a team and I feel reallybad for the players besides sidney.

Hey Lars, just ignore the senile rambling quoted above. If you have enough BC points, you can buy tickets. If you don't, you can't. Unlike football, what you did the previous year in basketball has no bearing on your ability to buy the next year. I guess when you have a trustee handling your affairs like Geezer does you don't know all the details like that. And despite the expectations the fans had for this team, I had many more seat options this year than in the previous ones. Before this year I was in the upper half of the upper deck, and that was the best I could do. This year not only did I improve my seats, but I was in the lower level. That wasn't because I suddenly became a huge donor.

Yes, guards will be a concern.....With the guards however, we have4 frosh coming in as well as Shaun Smith and Jalen Steele.......You are right though, frosh pg's really struggle early on.......Other than Hood, the European, Lewis and Roquez Johnson, who do we have on the frontline? Ware is coming in but he's really, really raw and will need to r/s IMO (but we may not have any choice but to play him)...........So, that's 5 players for 3 positions up front.........With the guards (if Deville doesn't come back) that's6 players for two positions.......Get a biggiein foul trouble next year and we litterally have NO options but to play small ball..........Of course, all of this is assuming Moultrie and Smith aren't back.......We know Sid is gone, or so everyone seems to think.......Getting Pollard would be huge but I'm not sure it's gonna happen............

An affair involving a prominent person affiliated with our hoops program?

The vagueness is intentional, as I'm not a big fan of libel. PM if you want. I first heard such a rumor this past weekend from someone with better sources than me ...

I just don't care any more.

I saw the light after the 2009-10 season, and things are progressively getting worse. It's very concerning that we just don't play defense any more. Once upon a time, three years ago and beyond, we could hang our hats on defense. Sure, we might not be so good on offense, but we just dominated on defense, owning rebounds, etc. The one thing that was positive about our hoops program has gone away now too.

Our hoops program has effectively become Terri Schiavo - an extremely polarizing and destructive topic. Do we leave our program in a persistent vegetative state or do we pull the plug and move on? We have fans that say don't pull the plug, it might get better! We have fans that say it's not getting better and it is not going to get better, thus we need to take action.

As most things in this country go, this comes down to money. Some huge boosters want Stans to have one more chance. As empty seats demonstrated on TV last night, a lot of people just don't care any more. Instead of making the effort to watch our "team", people would rather use their valuable time and money on something else. Once season ticket sales plummet, and I think they will, then we have to see what is more financially destructive, satisfying a few big boosters, or satisfying a few thousand season ticket holders.

Our basketball program is sadly going the way of our baseball program with Polk II.

I'd take the Polk II level results for any of our sports. Other than the last season, while Polk II was not near Polk I or McMahon, we still had a lot of success.

and I was proven right along with numerous on this board, because the difference has been amazing. Of course you conveniently leave out the fact that we are stupid enough to let him have an office on campus and anything hetells the commissioner of the SEC is negative about MSU. As bad as Stansbury has underperformed the last couple of years will never be as bad as LT was and still is for MSU. I don't hate him, I actually talked to him at the SEC tourney but he is still a pompousself serving jerk. You folks may not like Stansbury but you can never accuse him of that character defect.

Did you hear the announcer yapping about that last night? I thought of your comments earlier in the year. Have to wonder if Sid were booted if we would have been able to pull that off with better results?

Without Sidney sandbagging on D, intensity might have picked up and overall performance improved. As a coach, you just can't believe that you can say, "Everyone play defense/practice/llift weights/hustle go after ithard, except you Sidney".....and expect the rest of the team to go for it. It was easy to see there was a high probability of failure.

From your statemnets above, I believe the first. And, because I believe the first, I do believe you pulled the second right out of your a**.

I have seen absolutely nothing from either Keenum or Stricklin that backs up your statemnent. State does not have a 'Bobby Lowder' or 'T Boone Pickens' that can make those calls. Unless you want to 'name names,' I will continue to believe that they pay more attention to the 'butts in seat' fans over these 'mythical' cigar boys.

Well what did you expect??? 2003-2004 season, we wereSEC Champions, #2 seed in the NCAA Tourney. Things were looking pretty good.
