we lose these games because we simply get outcoached- always have. When we play teams from OOC that dont rely on athleticism like many SEC teams do, we struggle because while they arent as talented, they play sound, fundamental basketball. It happens every damn year.

We will end up 10-5 OOC, maybe 11-4...win about 8 SEC games...be on the bubble...and you 17'ers will praise Stansbury for another 20 win season...lather, rinse, repeat- 2009

We are stuck in basketball Hell

At how many people can berate you (and me in chat a few nights this year) for thinking that we can do better than Stans. He puts up goose-eggs like this on a yearly basis.... but he wins the SECW and everyone is ecstatic... It's unbelievable to even think that we couldn't get a slightly better coach than him. I'd take a coach that can't recruit but can coach any night of the week over a coach that can recruit but can't coach.

I don't really like you (from your over-done bitching), but I'm getting really close to agreeing with you. That was pathetic.

Kodi shoots 2 for 7 tonight, and plays poor D... If only he'd hit one more bucket and play decent defense.

Not that my opinion carries any weight, but his time has come and it is clear he is capable of winning big outside the SEC. Not being 5-0 at this point is unacceptable.

I am gonna turn on Croom 2008 mode pretty soon. We are stuck. Coaching life cycle for sure. This program needs new life.

His ****** floor coaching will never improve. 12 years is enough.

Team discipline can't exist when a player says the things Kodi has and gets away with it. No matter how good a player Kodi may be, his presence on the team is a problem. Also, Varnado was out there grinning from ear to ear at one point talking with one of the other guys. And we were losing by 15 or so. I'm thinking the team leader should be chewing some asses out at that point. Not grinning like it doesn't matter. This is the most apathetic I've ever seen a Stansbury team play. No energy. Defense shoddy. No heart.

If this is said about a team in any sport at any level it's usually because the head coach has lost his team. It appears this team could give a **** about anything stans says or does. Whenever he speaks to the team it probably sounds like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Something drastic will have to happen to change what's going on. I could stand a coaching change. Make it 3 yrs in a row we make a new and exciting hire.

We have no right to even speak of the Cutcliffe firing ever again. We are discussing doing almost exactly the same thing they did.

Most people aren't saying we can't do better than Stans. Most people are saying we could do a whole, whole, whole lot worse and we probably would.

A few years ago, it looked like Stans might actually become a good bench coach, but he's right back to the point of-have a seat coach and let the players play

its led Mississippi to back-to-back NYD bowls...it appears they made the right decision...if we fire Stans, and it leads to back-to-back Sweet 16's 4 and 5 years later, I'd say it was the right choice

Your point? We ran out of timeouts with 7 minutes left in the game. We killed the clock on 4 straight possessions at the end of the game and got ONE shot at the basket. If it wasn't for Phil and Ravern making big time hustle plays to put back 2 horrible shots, we never would have taken the lead. Stans tries to play the 4 corners offense with this team, yet he has no playmakers that can stick the shot. We have guys charging, taking fallaway off balance shots, and throwing up bricks with 5 seconds left after dribbling away 30 seconds of the shot clock. Playing against a mid tier Atlantic 10 team, we got outscored in the paint

...who knows what the percentage is? We know that Stansbury's cap is winning the division and getting bounced on the first weekend. There's no sense in expecting anymore. That scenario has just become best case scenario for the season. He can't get us to where we need to go.

but this can not continue. I think he'll be on the hot seat next year if we don't turn it around and quick.

It's just pure luck they ended up with Nutt. If Arkansas fans weren't so stupid then no, it wouldn't have worked out so well for Ole Miss.

Regardless, in the end they now have a coach that will produce the same results as Cut over the long haul. Once O's talent leaves campus, that's all she wrote for NYD bowls.

Would I trade 3 years in football misery for 1 or 2 NYD bowls? No. I'd rather just win every year. That's the difference between you and I though. I value consistent winning, you would trade losing in embarassing fashion most years for that one really good season.

can't be good on a national level in basketball? If RS would have coached us in the NCAA's since he has been here, we would have some national exposure, and I'm using the term "coached" very loosely. But instead, he is just competent enough to get us some West titles and a few SEC tourney titles scattered in those 12 years. Whoopie for us, we have won another West title, that should put us in the tourney at about a 8-10 seed considering our poor OOC record. A solid floor coach with this talent would have us at 5-0 and we would be improving with every game, and the national media would be discussing our potential. We have the facilities and the fanbase, we just don't have the coach that is capable of getting us over the "hump".

But let me ask you this Coach since you are so smart. If you had a 3 point lead and had the ball what would your brilliant *** have done? We put the ball in the hands of our best ballhandler and he immediately lets a guard steal it and score. Then he gets fouled and misses two free throws. I am convinced we are not playing well but if you would have done something else, then you are an arm chair idiot. If we don't get it resolved soon, I will say maybe it is coaching but Bost has not played up to his expectations and neither have anybody else other than Phil. I assume you would hire Brady and Gottfried or even worst, yourself. We are thin inside and Osby has not risen up like he should. Let's let it play out and see what happens but I can count on one thing, with every disappointment, you will have the solution as will Thick and the other arm chair coaches on here.

Stans is a helluva recruiter and that's it. It's obvious that he doesn't have control of the team and he's never been able to scheme worth a crap. I'm tired of watching the team pass the ball around the perimeter and hurriedly jack up a horrible shot before the shot clock expires. I'm also tired of watching him fail to call timeouts to break the other team's momentum, and look like a deer in headlights during timeouts where we should be drawing up a scoring play. And I'm not even going to get into the strange substitution patterns. Now, with regard to a replacement, I have no idea who's out there and would do a good job for us. I'm just tired of watching this same movie over and over again when you know how it's going to end.

we lost because we did not play hard on the defensive side. We allowed easy buckets and generally looked quite pathetic. Dee's approach at the line that last time was quite nauseating, and our clock management at game's end was like always.....awful. We seem to always get into that mode where we attempt to run clock and get horrible shots. That most definitely is coaching or lack of it. Yesterday, as the clock wound down, Dee or Barry end up getting nothing in the way of a decent look. This observation is based on watching the last 5 minutes of the game which was 5 minutes way too much for me.</p>
