My Preseason Region A Picks

This is just my opinion and for discussion. I'm basing this off of what I know and what I'm hearing. I honestly think teams 2-5 are pretty equal and any of them are capable of beating #1.

1. Essex
2. Washington and Lee
3. West Point
4. King and Queen
5. Northumberland
6. Colonial Beach
7. Northampton
8. Rappahannock
9. Lancaster
10. Mathews
11. Middlesex

Hard to understand what Middlesex is doing out in Saluda. Building nice facilities, a great stadium and just bottom of the barrel as far as competitive FB teams.

Are they even certain to have a team this year?

I've been told they will field a team this year after not participating in the spring. They have about 25 out for football. As with most teams with low numbers, injuries will be a big factor. I heard WP only has about 20 out for varsity and Mathews about the same. Lancaster apparently shut down for 10 days due to Covid and there numbers weren't great either so we'll see. I think the gap between Essex, WL and everyone else is significant.
