...that there is an $80,000 black Mercedes sitting untitled in the parking lot of TSUNs athletic department and that this car will remain untitled as insurance until signing day when C.J. will get the keys.

...that people there are already on pins and needles waiting on the NCAA cause they know they've been reported.

....and that the word out of the athletic department there on SEC expansion is that Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Florida State are pretty much a done deal and waiting on a fourth school.

But the rest of that post is complete, utter and unadulterated feces of the bovine character. Absolutely nothing easily traceable or verifiable goes down any more. It's all back channel, cash, or 4th and 5th party non-profit donations.

Apparently what has generated the smoke this month is the Longhorn Network announcement.Apparently UT mislead the conference on the extent of the network, especially with the possibility of broadcasting Texas High School football games, which has A&M up in arms.

a $30K payment plan, $100K in a lockbox in Louisville or an $80K Mercedes? I'm getting confused.

that if CJ was actually getting a 80k mercedes that they would really parK it in the lot at the Athletic Dept.? I realize you're just passing it along but you could do yourself a favor and at least indicate that you believe it to be complete and total ********.

If we went to 16 I'd like to see all Big 12 schools and we shuttle Bama and AU to the East.

That way you can play a full round robin without permanents.

I definitely think the Big 12 is a ticking time bomb though. The texas network deal is going to speed it up and I expect Texas to end up an Independent.

seems to be the norm now. Nothing surprises me anymore in college football recruiting. I wouldn't put anything past some of these boosters after watching Camgate and it's outcome. A lot of that seemed like total BS and looked way to flagrant but it still happened and so far, nothing said about it. So, no telling what's really going on at TSUN.

I think for the sake of expanding Television footprint that after taking A&M and OU little else could be gained by bringing in Oklahoma State and Mizzou. I think the better move would be to pull A&M and OU and then turn towards the ACC to fill it out to 16.

I think I'm more willing to go with the "Dan's a real a-hole and the recruits don't really like him so other coaches can come and sweet talk the recruits out of a commitment to State" theory.

if we got OU, then yes, the OKState acquisition wouldn't add anything... but getting Mizzou brings in two very large markets.

The rumor here in Austin is that they may go the independent route.

I'm curious to see how long BYU tries to pull it off, but Texas won't have a problem, especially with that TV deal. That's one thing (NBC deal) that helped ND when all the other independents were joining conferences to secure TV appearances.

An independent Texas would have trouble scheduling quality opponents. Unless they're going to pay ALL of them 1.5 mill or so.

ND schedules OK mainly because of tradition, TV contracts, etc.

I'm not sure Texas can juts walk in to independence and still play Oklahoma (who'd be in the SEC most likely), Nebraska, etc.

But that has been the rumor to the extent it has been talked about on the local news, so there has to be legs to it.

Could just be posturing as well to make them more attractive to another conference.

The only other rumor I heard was that the SEC wanted aTm and Oklahoma, but they would only go if Texas and Ok State went as well and Texas was saying no to the deal.

Would love to have aTm and OU but no way should we allow Texas in, we already have Bama and LSU to battle over yearly dominating the SEC. We don't want to add the richest athletic department in the NCAA to the mix

First of all, they hate sharing the wealth, and if they joined the SEC they know they would have too. More than that, it's a simple power struggle. They have never reacted well when other conference members try to dictate what they do, or even try to dictate what they do within their own institution. They did that for the entire time to Nebraska, that's one reason why they wet their pants so bad last year.

I also happen to think they don;t want to play a SEC schedule. As it is, they really only have one game per year that they don't go into expecting to win. Not "capable" of winning, or "if we play up to our potential we could win," but they can (and usually do) laugh at their week to week schedule. If Texas played our schedule, they'd average 8-9 games a year.

Personal opinion.

consistantly. They're a middle of the pack SEC team at best. And we pick up a little of the DFW market. And selfishly, I love Dallas...and Ft Worth.

They were undefeated this year and have been to two BCS bowls in a row, and can't sell out their stadium which is not big. Part of the reason for that is the ****** conference they were in (I mean who really gives a **** about the SDSU game?). Hell I went to the Texas Tech game in FW a few years ago and they didn't even sell that game out.

Other than that, I would much rather travel to games in Fort Worth than College Station or anywhere in Oklahoma.

share of the DFW market, but it's bigger than the SEC has now. They're also rich, FWIW. I'd rather have TCU than many others mentioned. Not gonna happen tho.

But it doesn't change the fact that they have an enrollment of around 4-5,000 (I'm ballparking for the statisticians out there, I'm not going to look it up) and have a small alumni base that largely don't care about football.

I am anxious to see how Amon Carter looks after the renovations, but it would be silly to add TCU instead of someone like A&M, if you're looking to expand into Texas. A&M would bring the Houston market, which while less interesting to me than DFW, it's probably bigger than both Dallas and Fort Worth combined, with an enormous alumni base. Total dorks, but there are a bunch of them, and we all know money will talk during expansion.

Not saying it won't happen, just don't think it would necessarily be a good idea for them. The only way Notre Dame can sort of pull it off is their unique national appeal. They get recruits from all over the country. They always have. Texas not so much.

Take this year for example. According to Scout, Texas has the number one class in the country. Incredible to believe, but with one single exception all of their 22 commits are from their home state. Notre Dame is ranked 6th with 23 commits. Their list includes kids from 12 different states.

Part of the draw for some of those Texas recruits has to be a life-long dream to play in the Big 12 conference. If they were to go independent that would be removed and you might see future recruits select a team from a major conference. In other words, if that is what they end up doing, it could backfire on them. I'm not saying it necessarily will, but it could.

God, I wish I was you. Hell, or even all of these other guys on here who have such phenomenal sources and well connected friends. I feel like such a damn loser to not be a part of the well connected network that so many of you guys are in.

Maybe I should re-evaluate my priorities and start seriously rethinking my life. I mean, apparently anyone who is anyone at all these days has all of these connections that allow them to post such valuable and obviously truthful information on message boards. Oh the life that must be!

/I can't wait until it's football season again and we are winning games so that all these 12 year old 17tards will not have so much ******** to pretend to be awesome about

I don't know what to say really.
Three minutes
to the biggest battle of our professional lives
all comes down to today.
Either
we heal
as a team
or we are going to crumble.
Inch by inch
play by play
till we're finished.
We are in hell right now, gentlemen
believe me
and
we can stay here
and get the **** kicked out of us
or
we can fight our way
back into the light.
We can climb out of hell.
One inch, at a time.

Now I can't do it for you.
I'm too old.
I look around and I see these young faces
and I think
I mean
I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make.
I uh....
I pissed away all my money
believe it or not.
I chased off
anyone who has ever loved me.
And lately,
I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror.

You know when you get old in life
things get taken from you.
That's, that's part of life.
But,
you only learn that when you start losing stuff.
You find out that life is just a game of inches.
So is football.
Because in either game
life or football
the margin for error is so small.
I mean
one half step too late or to early
you don't quite make it.
One half second too slow or too fast
and you don't quite catch it.
The inches we need are everywhere around us.
They are in ever break of the game
every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch
On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us
to pieces for that inch.
We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch.
Cause we know
when we add up all those inches
that's going to make the %%%%+%% difference
between WINNING and LOSING
between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this
in any fight
it is the guy who is willing to die
who is going to win that inch.
And I know
if I am going to have any life anymore
it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch
because that is what LIVING is.
The six inches in front of your face.

Now I can't make you do it.
You gotta look at the guy next to you.
Look into his eyes.
Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you.
You are going to see a guy
who will sacrifice himself for this team
because he knows when it comes down to it,
you are gonna do the same thing for him.

That's a team, gentlemen
and either we heal now, as a team,
or we will die as individuals.
That's football guys.
That's all it is.
Now, whattaya gonna do?

I think Clay Travis had a good point. What ESPN got out of the deal for the Longhorn Network wasn't a whole lot, and it was a good bit of crap. He thinks it was like a 'promise ring', to use his terminology before going to a full blown independent deal.

If ESPN does end up setting up a full blown Longhorn Network for an independent Texas, you can bet ESPN will play a big part in Texas's scheduling. ESPN would offer big national opponents a good bit of money to play Texas in home in home's, neutrals, etc. I would bet A&M would drop playing Texas in that hypothetical, but I would bet OU would get a really sweet deal to sign a 10 year deal with ESPN for a Texas-OU out of conference game, much like the A&M-Arkansas Jerryworld deal, but I'm sure for a good bit more money.

That you have to come on a message board to comment and try to belittle a poster personally? Why must you comment about me personally when I simply posted a rumor that I heard. If you hadn't forgotten, this is a message board and rumors are encouraged. If you've forgotten, try rereading rule 5! If you have a problem with my post, then feel free to bash my post and it's validity but there's no need attack me personally.

Now, I will agree, that parts of this rumor seem a little far fetched. You would have to be an idiot to park this car at the athletic department and then give it to CJ. However, it could happen. What if this car was purchased by a donor and "Given" to a former football player that is still in Oxford and connected to the program. The car is then titled in that former players name. Tag and registration goes to the former player. The car by all legal paperwork "belongs" to the former player. Now, C J is seen driving it and is asked if its his car. "Nope, I'm just borrowing it from my homeboy!"

Is it a recruiting violation for a recruit that's just signed to drive a friends car? No "Proof" that it's CJ's car. That's how it was explained to me.
